Who are you to tell me what is or isn't a necessary joke?
I just don't think it's appropriate to joke about people's religions, since it's a touchy topic. It's like making jokes about people's mothers, it's pretty much a guaranteed way of offending them.
If I said "Islam shouldn't count as a religion because terrorists are Muslims

"
no matter how much jest or jokes i put into the post, it'll still strike a note with yourself or any other Muslims, and you'll take it a little more personally than if i say "Majed shut up, nobody cares what you think

", even though the nature of the latter comment would
seem more aggressive.

I'm am deeply offended by the fact that you think that there was something to "fix" anyway. The smilie isn't there to fix anything. It's there to show that I know my previous statement is obviously not true. Who the hell doesn't know that Hinduism is a religion anyway?!
What i meant was, that using a smilie at the end of a joke doesn't nullify any
potential offence it may have caused.

BTW, If you think this is inappropriate, why dont you stick your nose into other conversations of people who jockingly call each other "Bastard" for example?
That's different, because nobody's gonna take it personally. If you call someone a bastard or an idiot for example, it's a universal insult that usually isn't taken too seriously.

PS gray, if you think this post is in anyway overreacting, then you'll know how i feel about your first post of mine that you quoted in this thread.
.........
I don't think you over-reacted, but i don't think you understand that some people are very sensitive to these kinds of things. I wasn't offended cos i'm not Hindu, but it's just some advice, be careful dude.
btw i like ur new nick
