Roma and Leeds should not have kicked off the season. Leeds are surviving by the day. Roma scraped into the league, mysteriosly, when clearly they are broke, and now they will have more cash tan us.

"Lifes a *****" famous quote, perfectly describes the russian roma....man i hate that team more than i hate Gorgettes.

Roma :yuck: make me sick

Not only did they mysteriously participate in the league despite their lack of cash, their cheque for Chivu bounced and they almost had to give him back. What the heck is a team doing signing players when they can't even afford their league fees :wallbang::groan:

I dunno, im just not up for this stuff. Of course, its good to see some1's retaking the prerogative to raise the bar to a whole new level, in terms of bringing in world stars.
But what beats me is, this foreign ownership. Call me traditional or whatever, it just somehow translates to a level of commercialisation that although maybe good in terms of support and stability. But i think it just takes away a little of that tradition from a team, its players and eventually the sport itself.
Which cant be a good thing imo.

And if this company wants to buy ne team, it shud be Fiorentina. I miss them in the Serie A.

yea john it's true...they shudnt be allowed to play in serie A this season.

and only now the italian FA + the police are taking actions, doing inspections on all serie A + B clubs.....going thru their documents bcoz of most of the clubs lie bout the financial status of thier clubs.

Bologna's president said it all. It's not fair for other teams in Serie A to allow Roma play despite their financial situation. He said that he could've easily assembled a championship winning side without worrying about the club finances like Roma were doing in the summer, but he preferred to respect the rules. Now Roma are challenging for the Scudetto and Bologna are faltering in the wrong end of the Serie A table.

Anyway, the huge amounts of money pumped into the club will indirectly help Serie A, like it happened to Chelsea and the EPL with Roman Abramovich. Many clubs like Charlton (Scott Parker), West Ham (Joe Cole and Glen Johnson), Blackburn (Damien Duff), and Southampton (Wayne Bridge) benefited from Chelsea's millions.

But I'd feel much better if the Russians went after Parma, not Roma ..

Very good point, any club could've been as irresponsible as Roma and built a 100m squad, completely ignoring their account books. Roma shouldn't have been allowed to play in the comp. Of course I'm gonna say this because they're better than us this season, but even Perugia or Ancona was bankrupt, I'd be saying that they shouldn't have been allowed to participate in the competitions.

In England, if a club goes into administration, they're deducted points, starting next year. Of course, if you're cooking the books to stay afloat, that doesn't apply. Then fraud legislation should apply.

That would be too late a move to make. Damage has already been done. The Italian Federation should've moved earlier to force rules that cut club's expenditures and balance their books. Most Italian teams are close to Roma and Lazio's situation, if not worse. Gaucci is looking for a buyer for his Perugia whereas Parma are already in a blackhole. In fact, I think Juve was the only Italian club to make profit at the end of the financial year.

It's not too late, but very strict guidelines may have to come into force at the end of the season.

I think there was one more. Brescia?

Thanks. Regardless, it means that 16 clubs are losing money, which can only end in tears. Ultimately, it's up to the clubs themselves to thrash out guidelines, or for the Italian FA to make rules. It's clear that the success-hungry chairmen aren't going to make sensibel choices unless pushed.

It is really the responsibilty of banks, not clubs. If the banks did not garuntee loans to clubs in dire financial trouble (like Roma), then those clubs would not be able to compete in Serie A by the rules.

Surely the banks think of their investment first? They're not in the business of sponsorship.

For some reason I could accept that Chelsea was bought in this way, I looked it as an experiment. And it was Chelsea after all.
If football clubs are goingt o become some kind of toy for the wealthy russians, it is going too far.

All i can say is that sensi the fat ****, after all his moaning about Juve being dodgy, can go shove it all up his arse, cos his club have broken the rules, and spat it into all the other clubs faces. Fiorentina went down, but they sold their stars, thats why, Now as roma are gonne get bought up they dont have to.

I HATE AS ROMA.

Nafta Moskva's Italian lawyer has confirmed the takeover bid is over after the police investigation into Roma's finances.

“It is now official,” explained Salvatore Trifiro’ on ‘Radio Capital’. “At 3am on Sunday Feb 29 the negotiations to buy Roma Calcio collapsed.”

Many newspapers maintained that today’s Board of Directors meeting would see the takeover bid officially confirmed by President Franco Sensi (pictured).

However, late Saturday night the negotiator in charge of the talks flew back to Moscow.

“We were effectively in the final stages of the talks,” explained the lawyer, “but the news of the police investigation frightened them off, as the Russians were ready to invest a lot of money into this deal.”

“Initially the sum was going to be in the region of £275m, but within a year it would have been as much as £480m. They were worried and wanted guarantees that this investigation would be over with quickly, but obviously we couldn’t do that.”

This week a police investigation into the finances of Italian football clubs saw documents taken from all the Serie A and B headquarters for inspection.

“The Russians would have come to Italy for promotional purposes,” revealed Trifiro’, “but with this whole affair they could have been sucked into some negative publicity, so they decided to give up on the bid.”

The radio station also asked whether or not there could be a revival of negotiations later on in the season.

“I don’t think so,” he sighed. “The Parmalat and Cirio affairs already gave the Russians a worrying impression of Italian football, so with such a massive deal involved they opted to pull out.”

“I haven’t spoken directly to President Franco Sensi, but we sent a letter saying that we appreciate Roma’s work and wish the club all the best.”
