Ranocchia: Conte will revive Bonucci
Andrea Ranocchia is confident that Antonio Conte will help Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci return to the international set-up.

Bonucci has been omitted from the latest Azzurri squad after a tough ending to the season that saw him dropped from the Juve line-up.

Bonucci though will no longer be bossed by Gigi Del Neri in Turin next season, given that Conte – a man Ranocchia knows well – is set to take over.

“I’m certain that he’ll be able to get back to his high levels and be back in the Azzurri squad thanks to Conte,” Ranocchia said of his former Bari teammate.

“Conte, who I had at Arezzo and Bari, is a Coach who pays close attention to the defensive side of the game.

“Bonucci will improve as a player with him.”

While Bonucci left Bari for Juventus last summer, Ranocchia joined Genoa before his January switch to Inter.

“I’ve fitted in well at Inter,” the centre-back continued. “I hope to stay there for some time to come. I don’t see anything better than Inter.

“Barcelona are strong, but we too have won a lot as a side in recent times.”

Ranocchia was also asked for his opinion on who is the best defender in the world. “Perhaps Pique of Barcelona, but I like Milan’s Thiago Silva too.”

Now that we have Pirlo and, hopefully Inler, he can cut out his awful long passes and concentrate on improving his defense qualities.

For a central defender, he's still young and has many things to learn and improve.
