Italy team manager Lele Oriali warns players are now banned from discussing club affairs on social media.

The controversy was stirred up again by Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, who celebrated a 3-2 win over Roma by tweeting “wash your mouths out” to critics.

“Leonardo made an improper comment and he knows that he was wrong,” Oriali told reporters today.

“Once players walk through the gates of the Coverciano training camp, any tension between clubs must be forgotten.

“Certain comments can provoke tension that we really do not need. There is an unwritten rule – which doesn’t need to be written down, but the Coach did explain it at the start.

“Leonardo was wrong, he admits he was wrong and we like people who own up to their mistakes.”

Oriali won’t endorse an all-out ban, but did say “it would be better to avoid using social networks, especially to continue talking about club games.

“Once we come in here, we have just one jersey that unites all the teams and all the fans. Anyone called up for Italy must fit into that.”

Bonucci spoke at a Press conference to apologise and clarify the tweet, but will he be punished if he does it again?
