And people laugh when I say that Gary Cahill is a good defender.

He's better than every Italian CB except Barzagli and an in-form Chiellini.

That's no hard task. If Cahill is considered a top CB that just shows how bad the level of current defenders are these days. Chiellini (even out of form) is light years better than Gary Fucking Cahill, let's be honest here.

Cahill is actually pretty good, sadly the criteria for judging defenders is 5x more lenient nowadays. Defending has gone to shit. It's all about how well the entire team defends now, most of todays 'top class' CBs look out of their depth then an attacker gets at them in some space. I guess part of it's due to the disgraceful officiating nowadays that discourages the good ol' tough, rugged defending.

The current crop of CBs is indeed sad but Cahill is pretty decent.

I don't know about the current Chiellini, I did not like him this season.
