foreign tax rule applies if its at least 2 years deal if we wont buy him he wont benefit from it at all.
If we don’t buy him then all the handwringing about being saddled with him long term is irrelevant and we just doing a one year rental.

If we buy him, the foreign tax rule applies and he only costs us 9.17 mil/year which is nothing outrageous, even if it’s a bit high.

Am I too optimistic if I'm almost looking forward to this?
Not at all. I'm optimistic about Parepiss because on a technical level, he's better than all our mids bar Pogba. My only concern was we were buying another player with an injury history.

Given the quality of this league, I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard for a player of his caliber to standout as an important player for this team.

It’s slightly inaccurate as he only costs us 9.17 or something gross do to that foreign player tax rule or whatever it is. So he’s only like the 8th-10th most expensive player for the club, which seems fairly reasonable.

@Strickland is grossly undervaluing him and completely ignoring the tax rule which has him on ~9.17 gross. He’s also comparing him to young players who haven’t made moves to big clubs and signed big contract increases yet.
Yup.

In no world is Paredes a 2.5m wage player. That would be outrageous.

Starter for PSG, CHL finalist, 28 years old. Lets be realistic here.

Rabiot was very similar in terms of status and he was a free agent, which always drives up salary. I still think he's a 2.5m player when it comes to quality. I guess lets just hope Paredes isnt such a trainwreck here.

Btw when I say 2.5m I dont mean bad, I mean Bentancur level - can be an integral part of a very good midfield in the right role, but will never be a decisive star player that deserves a high salary.

Rabiot was 10 years younger and wasnt an integral part of any succes at PSG. I really dont think they are comparable.

1. Rabiot joined Juve at 24 not 18.
2. He had 6 full seasons, 227 games and 15k minutes for PSG, as a starter winning 5 league titles and bunch of cups. He's still a 2.5m player in my eye for what he brings to the pitch.

Argentina are one of the contenders for the World Cup and Paredes is a key part of their midfield

Comparing him to Bentancur tells me you haven't watched him at all.

Paredes started almost every game for an Argentina side that won the Copa America

Fagiot wasn't even in consideration to represent France until a year ago. If not for Deschamps, I'm not sure he would've got the chance either. Playing for Juventus obviously helped despite our struggles.

Better to reserve your judgement about him being Bentancur level until you've actually watched him.

What BS. He’s tied for 9th highest wages at Juve. Stop talking about net wages. The club doesn’t give a shit about net wages. His gross wages are all that matters.
