So, let me ask everyone this. What will everyone think about it if this current crop gets us to say, the quarters again or the semis but last years mercato with higher ratings didn't?
Hust, there peasants dont understand that we cannot afford the big names, and cannot see how we did quite well on the alternative of buying the very promising lads at an earlyer age.

Keeping the stars and getting coman alone is 7/10.

If both Coman and Sturaro keep playing like this, its a 9/10

We should have got to the CL 1/16 or 1/8 with our team last season, this year even if we end up playing 3-5-2 with all the usual suspects we'll probably improve on that. So unless Pereyra & co are somehow directly responsible for us improving in Europe then it doesn't effect the ratings to me

Last year it was crucial we sorted our attack out, and we got not 1 but 2 starters for roughly 10M.

Matri - Vucinic - Quags - Giovinco was nowhere near the best strikeforce in our crap league

So yeah last seasons was better HOWEVER, we had bigger gaps therefore it was easier to improve our team

E.G It's ridiculously difficult to improve Madrids team on Paper, to the point buying a world class prospect and a German international may have actually done more harm than good.
But the better bench we have this year can allow us to rest our key players more often during the season with hopes they up their performance in the CL. Isn't that the point of a strong bench?

4/10 for me. All we basically did was upgrade our bench and shifted our deadwood out mostly on loan with knowledge the club will never buy them deals. No real improvements on our starting 11 and not building on our success.

Bravo, still we just upgraded the bench but we have a great team. Didn't sell BonBon/Ogbonna for a better CB and didn't get that starter up front that can create. 9/10 if happened.
So if we advance further in the CL this year, who gets the credit? Allegri, Marotta? Who? People will find a reason to give Conte the credit while discrediting people directly responsible.

Conte fucking off was his decision
Tevez is a #10. Coman and pereyra are potential #10 and we cant afford a #10 in his prime, so this is the most excellent solution

Agreed at the CB. Pray to jesus/mohammed that barzagli-chiellini stay healthy and mentally sharp
Yeaa was more talking about the overall summer events, all of those would be adequate #10s and goes along with the versatility (add Tevez as he can play CF, SS, LF, CAM) and Asa and more just listed a few new guys

Why would a person leave all that Monaco money and living in Monaco for Manchester and a team without CL?

It doesn't really change the mercato ratings, unless a couple of the players we signed play a major part for us in Europe. There are far too many things that influence European results.

    :agree:

    the good:

sold some big contracts for good money
    signed coman
signed romulo for a relatively good price

    the bad:

overpaid massively for morata & pereyra
failed to move isla, dc, and motta permanently
failed to sign any of the main targets
    the vidal saga

i dont think all this falls on marotta's shoulders, as i believe he was given very little cash to play with
Easy there. How much less could we have gotten Morata and Pereyra for ? You are basically saying Morata should cost less then Matri.

You cant move proven shit. And i'm certain we kept isla to keep vidal

There were no real main targets and we never worked like that. We signed morata and pereyra pretty quickly, went full for coman and then barely did anything.

'going for their main target, was man utd trying to get vidal, and we managed to win that war'

Lastly i need to ask, what did marotta had to do with the vidal saga ? Man utd kept persisting, and so did the press in england and chile

I think keeping your best players should not be even considered, we're not Milan fooling the fans by saying that keeping Silva and Zlatan is our biggest achievment. It's Marotta's basic job to keep the club as good and his bonus shoud lie in improving it.
I agree though the fact that we kept them is a big bonus, it didn't improve the team, just kept it the same as it was..

It is what it is, everyone has an opinion. But it's interesting to see how opinions shift from one season to the next. I still remember I was excited when we signed Amauri/Krasic...turned out to blow up in our faces but I guarantee next season we will see the same excuses/finger pointing and the exact same line in the sand with the same members in the same groups on the same side of the line. Nothing will change. Only way to change it is to sign a Falcao/Di Maria with negotiations lasing a day only because anything longer the ratings will drop because negotiations took too long. (hehe)
