Juve close on Lamps
Frank Lampard’s move to Juventus took a further step towards fruition yesterday as it is believed that Chelsea held advanced talks with the Serie A giants. The Blues midfield powerhouse was the subject of discussions between Juve sporting director Alessio Secco and Stamford Bridge officials for a couple of days last week. According to Italian reports, Secco returned to London at the weekend in an attempt to finalise terms for the transfer. Lampard is said to be keen on playing abroad and would welcome the chance to link up again with Juve Coach Claudio Ranieri, the man who first brought him to Chelsea from West Ham in 2001.

Lampard is very good and very important to Chelsea but its not like they dont have enough mids to replace him.

Lampard to Barca, Ballack to start playing for Chelsea. Both far too similar for one team. Lampard is Jose's man so Avram Grant will want his own team, his own men.

That is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Lampard too. Him and Deco are extremely skilful in that department.

That was Terry.Doesnt Lampard's contract run out in June btw?That means that Chelsea will have to sell him in January or lose him on a free in June.That hadnt occured to me before.

I think this rumour has more credibility than the Ballack one. I think Juve have a good chance of signing him if Ranieri stays as a Coach and Juve manages to qualify for CL. A lot depends on Lampard too. But I think he may be willing to go and Chelsea willing to sell him.

I wouldn´t be too thrilled about this signing though. I would prefer Gerrard who is also harder to get.

Rainhard,

There is a rule that a player can by himself out of his contract.
I don't know the exact rule but it has to do with age and a number for years the player has left on his contract.
f.e. Trez could have left us if he decided to buy himself free since his contract wasn't "protected" anymore but now that he signed a new contract, he can't do that for a few years, I just don't know the exact numbers that come with this rule.

I think you can buy your contract 2 years after you've signed it.
