Of course, if the player joins another club with the help of this rule, then it will be payed to him via the signing on fee or some other arrangement.

That was Terry.Doesnt Lampard's contract run out in June btw? That means that Chelsea will have to sell him in January or lose him on a free in June. That hadnt occured to me before.
I think Lampard's deal runs to summer '09, but Chelsea will sell this summer rather than losing him for nothing a year later.

Lampard just wont cut it in Serie A. Many English players have tried, all pretty much failed & the current generation is even less likely to want to adapt to the language/culture/style of a foreign country when they can sit in EPL & be drooled over by idiots making comments like on this weekends Match of the Day where Lampards long pass to Drogba was described as "pass of the season", yet I managed to count at least 3 better ones by the end of that program.

:lol2:

That is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Lampard too. Him and Deco are extremely skilful in that department.
I think Lampard is the only player in the world that when he shoots the ball he takes aim at opposition players, not the net :D

but seriously, Goals are goals. Goals win you matches. Plus there is nothing better than the pissed off looks on the opposing fans faces when a deflection goal goes in.

no creativity!!!!
But efficiency. Especially since our goalscoring forward can go invisible in matches. It's good to know that you have a midfielder that can score goals for fun

Frank Lampard future at Chelsea still in the air

Chelsea coach Avram Grant has refused to be drawn on whether Frank Lampard will sign a new contract as the England international's future at Stamford Bridge remains in the balance.

Lampard has 18 months left to run on his current deal but is yet to sit down to discuss new terms sparking fears he is set to leave the club he joined in 2001.

The 29-year-old came to Chelsea's rescue last night by scoring a hat-trick including a last-gasp winner in their comeback 4-3 Carling Cup success over Leicester to book them a place in the last eight.

It follows his outstanding performance in their 6-0 drubbing of Manchester City at the weekend and, while coach Grant is delighted with the midfielder's current run of good form, he has said he will not get involved in contract negotations with the player.

The Israeli coach said: "Frank is very important for the team. He likes to do things to a high level that is his target and our target.

"I am not involved in the money situation. They are negotiating and at the end of the day they will find a solution. Frank wants to stay at Chelsea and Chelsea wants Frank.

"Frank says it all the time. It is only negotiating. It is not a football matter."

Lampard was a staunch supporter of former coach Jose Mourinho and in the wake of his departure it raised the possibility that Lampard would quit the club.

Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona have already shown an interest in the former West Ham midfielder who is now coming back to form after suffering with a thigh injury earlier in the season.

Lampard has always said he wishes to remain in west London but has yet stalled on discussing a long-term term and is ready to put talks on hold until the end of the season.

Considering our 'weak' defence, I don't think that creativity is what we need. Nocerino and Zanetti can't give a decent pass, but they sure help out a lot in defence. I don't care about attractive football (although not this season). The only thing that matters to me is the result. If we win against Inter playing like crap, I'll be happier than when we play samba and get our asses kicked.
