Juve and Barca chase Lamps

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri is ready to battle Barcelona for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, according to reports in England.

The 29-year-old was already paired with the Bianconeri after the arrival of Claudio Ranieri [pictured], as his career was revitalised by the Italian during their time together at the Blues in 2001.

The Sun claims that Barcelona are willing to make a £12m offer for Lampard, who has yet to agree an extension to his contract at Stamford Bridge despite months of negotiations.

The England international is contracted to Chelsea until 2009 and he could extricate himself from the deal for just £9m with the help of a new FIFA ruling.

The Blaugrana hope to cash in on Deco, who could join Inter, in order to re-invest the money on Lampard, although a swap deal might also be an option.

Ranieri is also following the player closely and the Old Lady had allegedly guaranteed that everything will be done to lure Lampard to the Stadio Olimpico.

“It feels strange that things are still up in the air. In an ideal world I would want this resolved before the season starts,” said the former West Ham youngster.

His goalscoring record says otherwise....Having said that,i do agree that he isnt as good as he's made out to be.
I think he's a bit like Beckham, in that his fans make him out to be better than he is, and his detractors make him out to be rubbish. I don't really rate him, but he's probably the most prolific goalscoring midfielder out there.

Lamps is most defo not shit. But then he isnt exactly world class in terms of talent.

He can shoot ( a lot), he can run ( without actually going anywhere), he can pass (long range lumping up the pitch) .

He isnt in Gerrards league and it would be nice if Chelsea fans recognise it.

Gerrard is more of a worker he is everpresent and so important for his team, Lampard scores a lot of important goals he has a good shot ,like Gerrard, and he has a nose to turn up before goal at the right moment.
They both have their qualities. Gerrard will never leave Pool, we might have a shot at Lampard. I'd say go for it, allthough I doubt we will get him.
