Ranieri In £12m Move For Lampard - Report

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Frank Lampard is set to join Claudio Ranieri at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

The England international is on the verge of leaving Chelsea after falling out over a new contract, and it was thought that Barcelona would be his first priority.

However, the Catalans have since pulled out of the running, with technical chief Txiki Begiristain announcing yesterday that there was simply no place for Lampard in their team.

Juventus have responded to that by upping the ante, and the Daily Mirror suggests that Ranieri wants to sign the Chelsea midfielder for £12million.

Lampard and Ranieri know each other very well from the coach's spell at Stamford Bridge.

In fact, it was none other than Ranieri who signed Lampard from West Ham for £11m in 2001. The 55-year-old is hoping to lure the midfielder to play under him again.

The report also suggests that Claudio Ranieri has been armed with a massive 100 million euro transfer war chest, almost double the sum that was being rumoured in Italy.

The 15 days have past where Lampard is allowed to buy out his contract. If we want him now we have to pay what Chelsea's valuation of the player is instead of the 8Mil we could have gotten him for.

how?
I thought he only needs to inform Chelsea of his will to leave 15 days before he does!
I might be wrong...

Italian giants Juventus are being linked with an unlikely £12m move for Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

Reports in Italy and England are claiming that the England midfielder is wanted in Turin after the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as Juve boss.

The latter signed Lampard for £11m in 2001 from West Ham while Blues boss and he’s eager to link up with the player again.

However, although Lampard’s future in London is in some doubt, it seems as though he will only remain a dream for Ranieri and Juventus.

The Old Lady only have limited funds available for the transfer market despite a recent cash injection of £71m.

As a result, a £12m bid for Lampard would be rejected by the London club who seem to have no intention of selling anyway.

The player’s wages would also pose a problem with recent whispers suggesting that the Englishman has already snubbed a new £140,000 a week deal to extend his current contract which expires in 2009.

Those sorts of figures are just too much for the Bianconeri who are still feeling the financial effects of Calciopoli.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have also pulled out of the 'race’ to sign Lampard as confirmed by sporting director Txiki Beguiristain.

i dont think Lampard would be a wise buy for juve. For one he needs a system built around him to excell.someone to do all the defensive work for him so he can lurk around the box and not think of defensive duties.I think it would be a gamble to build your system around a player like Lampard who will most likely flop in Italy.IMo as long as Juve keep their best players(Trez,Buffon,Camo) and get rid of average players like Balzaretti,Boumsong etc.then all you guys need is some creativity in midfield.something Lampard wont offer.

Sounds more like an opinion that facts. I didn't know there was a timelimit to buyout your contract. I'm pretty sure we can still ask Lampard to buy out his contract thus we wont have to make a bid that Chelsea CAN reject.

correct me if im wrong.

I think so too...
you can buy ur contract out, when u give a notice at least 15 days before doing so...
so there is no need to negotiate Chelsea for his signing...
