Now that Pep is almost surely going to stay in City, I must say a successful CL run with Pep is far from a sure thing too. He fucked up his away ties against big boys so many times in past few years, and went out almost exactly in the same fashion every time.

What coach guarantees this, though? Zidane alone? And he's only been coaching for 3 years in a GOAT level team. Like Pep early on in Barcelona. Every other top coach has had good and bad years in CL, failures and successes.

That's why all the recriminations and antipathy towards Allegri are so retarded. He's a fantastic coach, who has had us in CL finals in two of his 5 years here, between us and Milan has never gone out in group stage... His European record, when looked at as a whole is impeccable. Yes, we had a bad season this year, and it was time to move on and refresh things... but it doesn't change his brilliance.
