It's sad. Injuries destroyed an amazing career, if you consider the whole of footaballing world. The guy could have become a top midfielder.

Now I think the most likely outcome is he sees out his contract till 2018 and retires. He just cant play anymore.

In a horrible match, with little time, he still manages to absolutly horrific. Why he is on the field in this form and condition i will never understand. Neto would do a better job in midfield

It's all in his head. It's not like he's crippled or anything. Asabob can be better and will get better. He just needs to relax and take it slow. More time on the bench could do him well.

i think one problem is that he is so damn one footed. he always needs to get himself into weired position to play the ball with his left foot and that is so obvious that the opponents players now the passing lane already by reading yesterdays newspaper.

This is all on Marotta. He had all summer to find a replacement for Pogba but played it cool as in the back of his mind he was relying on Asamoah.

Well its backfired big time and now our already shit Midfield looks even shittier!

Going to be hard find a top MF not cup tied in January.

We should have sold him. He had so many physicals problems that it was too much of a gamble to rely on him.

We have problems now.

It was a clear mistake, from the beginning, when they decided to keep him and sell Pereyra.

Pereyra has the tools to be a good CM, a good backup AM. His last season was bad, but he's still 25, had a very good season before that, and a better injury history.

Very poor call.

That's sad. But now we need even another midfielder in January. (We already needed two before imo)
We needed 0 midfielders before, and once Marchisio and Sturaro are back, we need 0 'january' midfielders now.

Asamoah has been player of the season twice as the LWB under Conte and has been excellent as a cm for his nation and before at udinese.

Pereyra was largely disappointing and clearly wasent good enough so we sold him.

it was mostly that we could get some decent money for Pereyra and probably nothing for Asa, which is why he stayed i think. Asa is 6th/7th choice when all are fit so its not that big of a loss anyway

Yep, the only small problem about Asa is that he basically didnt play for 2 years after that, and when he did, you could see there wasnt much left.

So yes, they made the right choice, who would know it wouldnt work?

Yes, you may be right. Maybe they just preferred the money.

However, Pereyra was sold for peanuts. 13M in 4 installments means a bit more than 3M per year, + 2M bonus. That's not much in todays market.

But yes, it's probably how they thought, despite Marotta's words.
