if he doesn't want to play leftback for Juve, either scrap Pereyra to buy leftback or sell Kwadwo for leftback. I think Kasa could raise €20-25m, no point in having such an expensive back up mid and play a lousy 1st choice leftback like Peluso or De Ceglie.

Asamoah: I don’t like defence
By Football Italia staff

Juventus’ Kwadwo Asamoah says he does not like playing in defence after being selected at left-back for Ghana last night.

The 25-year-old normally plies his trade as a midfielder but was asked by Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah to play in a role further back in the 2-1 World Cup defeat to USA.

Speaking to Ghanaian media following the loss, the player expressed his belief that he is of no use to his team at left-back.

“Everyone knows the role in which I can give my best,” Asamoah said. “I’ve never liked playing in defence but when you are asked to do so what can you do?

“I think I am one of the players on the pitch with the most quality and I am very useful when I help out in attack.

“I don’t like playing in defence and I don’t think I can help the team there. My role is offensive.”
Conte must have loved hearing this.

A better idea would be to sell you to the organ traffickers.

African players tend to complain only when in natioal teams, he would have never said the same in a club context. not to mention he isnt a purely defensive player here.

He is right though regarding the NT. they should utilize him much better then playing a defensive LB, he used to play LM for them and its strange they moved him back.

Is there any specific reason for this?
because some of the coaches that go there are viewed as third rate coaches

anyway i used to see ghana come out in a formation with 3 behind the striker with asamoah being on the left of that three...i have consistently seen that which is why i dont understand the coach's reasoning considering some of the offensive players were absolutely woeful

I think there is quite a big difference between LB and LWB. Also he knows he is one of the best players in his national team so he doesn't want to be wasted.

There is a huge difference between being an LWB in our system and a LB in Ghana's. He gets way more touches on the ball in our formation, has the opportunity to play in more crosses, or cut in and take shots. This is why I don't want to ever see Asa play as an LB, though a lot of people on this forum have a real fetish to see that.

id rather see him PLAY even if it is at LB (if we switch to a 4man defense) than sitting on the bench and being just a 5th choice CM. and if we do sign Pereyra, then there is no doubt where he will play - LWB in 3-5-2, LB in 4-3-3...

whatever the formation is he should be a starter. he obviously cant start ahead of our CMs and there are Marchisio and possibly Pereyra/Guarin/Candreva on the bench too, so the best solution is to move him to LB. since we control the play in most games we play, he will be quite often involved in the attacking plays, and obviously not staying back all the time. from his abilities, he would have no problem playing there, and he has shown already that he can adapt to a new position very fast. im sure Asa would do a great job there for us and lock that position for himself for the next 6-7 years atleast...
