I sometimes read your posts and none of you seem to be too concerned that Juve have too many foreigners
I am of Italian origin so I like the team to have a strong Italian nucleus, but all I hear from you guys is that we should get Rosicky,Messi,Davids,Pienaar, etc etc.
KEEP JUVE ITALIAN!!
In a squad of 24 players, only around 6-8 of them should be foreign.
Now I hear Sagnol is arriving.....he will make Chiellini lose his place,Chiellini will leave, then we will lose another promising Italian!
Forget more foreign players...concentrate on adding more Italians Moggi

The foreigners we should keep are Thuram,Gladstone(we havent seen him play yet - he may be good),Emerson,Viera,Nedved,Ibrahimovic,Trezeguet and Mutu.

We should get rid of Bonnefoi,Zebina,Kovac,Olivera, and Zalayeta.

Only WORLD CLASS foreign players should grace the black and white stripes.

Diobaggio, you have a valid concern. However at the moment, there are very few Italians who are worthy of a first team spot in one of the top 5 teams in the world.

Players like: Gilardino, Zambrotta, Buffon, Totti, Cassano, Nesta, Canna etc.

That is just one of the reasons that few Italians are found among the top 3 in Italy.

It is not true.
I ,forexample, think the same way you do,and I was talking about that many times before, but always was criticized and called by the different names(usually racist, which is untrue because I'm not,and that is btw wrong word).

When I say something like that, there are always 3 or 4 others who are starting with the stories of positive competitive influence of foreigners.Juve is Italian club, and represent Italian football, playing in Italian league.
I totally agree with you,but I think that current situation doesn't go in the way we want...there will be only more foreigners, and sorry but that is the reality.

If you asking me I would innovate these regulations:

1 -Only 4 foreigners at the club

2 -at least 3 players from the young capacities must be registered(generating young players, and not buying expensive)

3 -Transfers limit of 50mil Euros per season...which meens that you cannot buy players over that limit.

Something similar(only for the firs regulation from the list) is projected by UEFA.

But there is another problem than,if you put the things that way,you will have to many foreigners taking Italian nationality, which would allow them to play as the domestic players.

I agree, but we're not so bad on that subject. Not like Inter...

except Zebina, all the foreign regulars are world-class.

Foreigners should IMO only be bought if they add something to the squad. Bonnefoi, Zebina and Olivera could easily be replaced by not too pricy Italians.

A good player will get respect now matter where he's from. As far as preserving an identity, Juve is very good at that. Now I would like to know how many of these italian players you want us to get so bad can stand being role players: thinks maresca, miccoli... the likes of Zalayeta are nowhere to be found in Italy, simple as that.

I agree. We should always first look on the italian market and just buy foreign players if they are better. I would not like if there would play just one or two italians at Juventus. But I just think that there is much competition on the italian market. A few big clubs compete for one player and that makes them expensive.

I would love for Juve to remain a primarily Italian team. I gotta put my Italian lessons to good use, afterall. ;)

But as another argument, you do have imports like Shevchenko who, while maybe not playing for the Italian NT, have pretty much opted to become permanent citizens of Italy.

And given Italy's birthrate these days, attracting new residents like Sheva isn't exactly a bad thing, IMO.

See but the thing is Diobaggio...at the moment good young Italian players are few and far between, especially in defense where there are no real alternatives to Nesta and Cannavaro. Barzagli, Coda, and others have potential, however they are still unkown quantities right now and it would be foolish for Juventus as a football club to take a chance on some of these players. In midfield there are really no bright Italian prospects besides De Rossi, Palombo, Montolivo, and a few others who are already tied down to their respective clubs. The point is there are not many options good enough for Juventus to choose from at the moment, hence the desire for the better foreign players.

However, I do agree with you that Juventus demands a strong core of players from Italy...that goes without saying. We do not want to turn into Internazionale and field only one Italian player because we either do not have any more or the rest are just not good enough. I believe Inter's lack of success recently is due to their lack of a solid base of Italian players...and with Luciano Moggi directing our business we will always look at the Italian players first and foremost.

As long as there is a good majority of prominent italians in Juve (Buffon, Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Cheillini, Camo, DP) then im happy.

Now there is one underrated player, for sure. Liverani has always impressed me and he is one of the best passers in Serie A...not to mention he has a very adept tactical sense of the game. I would easily take him at Juventus on a free this summer.

this is a dumb thread. i dont think juve should worry about how many italians they have. they should focus on good footballers. building a strong nucleas of good footballers is probably a better idea than building one of italian football players. and hey if you have a good italian footballer its a bonus. ex. Buffon, Del Piero, etc. But saying juve needs more italians is a kind of nationalist facism and not to mention disrespectful to good non italian footballers.

PS I wanted to use the word hitleresque instead of facist but I remembered I am not a member of the US congress.
