He's been disappointing overall in the literal sense of the word, mostly because our expectations for him were so high.

But he's still had plenty of great games, was very unlucky at times when it came to scoring as well.

Ofcourse it has to do with the high expectations. But great player have to be measured by their great past performances.

I think Allegri wanted to press them high which really didn't work. The other reason I can think of is that it enables us to leave a couple of players higher up the pitch when defending in order to counter faster.
