Formation is the least of our problems.

One again in Europe we are completely change our mentality. We have not shown any ambition or aggression and are so wasteful with the ball.

Pirlo has been abysmal, I honestly don't think I have ever seen him play so badly.

On a the positive, there have been at least 3 occasions where we had a good chance but blew it with an overhit pass.

It seems our best chance of a goal is from corners though, they don't seem to deal with them well. Maybe this is the reason Pirlo is playing because there is no other reason to play a guy in bad form/coming off an injury instead of one of our best players this season.
No.

In Europe we actually face competitive teams who can actually benefit and exploit from the 3-5-2's weaknesses.

Since i seen us get raped by Bayern 2 years ago i knew the 3-5-2 was no longer good enough, i believe i was one of the first to call for a formation change back to a 4-3-3 on this forum.

I am sick of spouting the same shit every week. If only Allegri looked at this forum and looked at my posts we would no longer be playing the 3-5-2.

Need to make a petition to make Allegri join Tuz so we can tell him the 3-5-2 is not the fucking answer.

You can't play up tempo with Pirlo on your team. You literally can't without getting cut open. If you press up as a team, he won't be behind the attackers supporting the press. He will leave a gap because he's too slow to keep up. If the game starts going back and forth our defence will get exposed because he provides no resistance. Our CMs can't attack properly because they have to be by his side.

The most obvious thing in the world is that our mentality changes when he's on the field.

I agree with you but the formation doesn't help. It is static. We rely on licht getting up the field but he can't cross, Asa isn't a wide player. This puts pressure on us and leaves us open on the counter when those players play a terrible cross into the box. It's like trying to fit a square into a circle hole. It doesn't work. We are just to slow with no x factor. We need to change it and change it now. Bring on a winger/AM for a defender. Let Asa play Lb for now then sub him later.

Tevez takes better corners than Pirlo though... His corner taking has never been a strength. Gio actually takes the best corners on the team. We could play a 4-3-3 with Gio--Tevez--Morata I suppose. And get Pirlo off for MArchisio.

3-5-2 isn't the problem... Our variation on 3-5-2 and turning it into a strange uber-passive formation with wing backs as our creative outlet is the problem. 3-5-2 done properly can work very well. AKA Netherlands variation on it, and Bayern's variation on it against Roma.
Well G, no shit PI. :p

Has anyone realised Ogbonna when he gets beaten he decides to jog it back even if the opponent is on the attack? Seen him do it in a number of games now. No urgency that clown.

How many times in the first half did we see one of our CB's pass Licht or Asa and in turned they passed it right back to the CB's? That must have been at least half of our passes. Such a waste of unimaginative anti-creativity.
