I am not sure about what you said, but if you are, then that could be offside. But it is the first ever time I heard that opponents (Defenders') team position is irrelevant for an offside position, I always knew it's always about the opponents position, and the rest doesn't matter, even if the ball passed to behind or forward.

Hmm, let me try to make sense of it. Imagine a final minute corner kick, with team A going all the way into team B's box. Team B clears the ball, a B player gets into A's half, beating A's last defender but the defender still has a chance to catch up. The B player hoofs the ball to the B Inzaghi who's close to A's goal, no chance for A.
