thanks Dennis :pint:

now lets hope that we can get a Setanta feed over the internet
Vinni I don't know if you know about this but i just saw it. I have never used it myself but it might be important for you and others who watch matches on the net. It is information on where to go to watch matches, i believe they have a forum as well where you can either ask questions or look at answers to questions that have arisen that interest you as regards football matches shown live

Just thought i'd give you all an update...

Owen is expected to play.

Babayaro, Taylor, Barton, Duff, Emre, and Viduka are all out.

Luque, Ameobi, Given and Milner who missed our last game - are expected to play.

We've got bad injuries (as always), so we don't expect to win. I'm going for a Juve 2-1 win.

If we'll have Boumsong and Legrotaglie as CB's at the same time and if Owen still remembers how to run, he'll score 2 goals minimum. :D

Seriously, this will be a interesting game, our first "real" test. This team is still in its early beginnings and we're still finding our first 11 and prefered formation. You can expect a lot of experimenting from our side so the result will be open, I predict a fair draw or us winning with a small margin.

Boumsong was awful for us. I was surprised you lot signed him.

We've only played two games this pre-season so we're behind in fitness. Hopefully we'll take the game seriously and try to win it.

Are any of you coming over? I wouldn't expect a huge Newcastle crowd, they'll only be about 30,000 in there.

We were basically the best team in the world with the best player in the world (Nedved) in 2003. I don't see how you can say this current team is good.

Nice counter argument btw. "I don't know how good the team is, for all I know they could be magnificent." :rolleyes:
the argument was how good they are on paper, not on the pitch.

I'm surprised we signed him too. The guy sucks.

Newcastle are probably still fitter and further in their preparations than Juve considering the EPL starts about a month before Serie A.

im getting so bored of the boumsong bashing, wish some of you guys would give him a break,he wasnt a disaster last season, wasnt even half as bad as he was at newcastle. he only sucks because you only remember him from newcastle or the mistake he made against rimini at the first game, it just shows how many matches most of you actually watched last season

He's going to be remembered in England for the bad time he had with us, which is a shame really. I liked him, but he cost us so many games and so many points.

Hopefully he'll play well for you, as i'd like to see him do well with a top club.

well quite honestly souness didnt help his confidence, blaming him for everything, i thought he did the business last season, yes he made a couple of errors, but no defender is perfect, and it was certainly an acceptable season for boumsong by his standards. but like you said everyone is only going to remember him for his time in england, which personally i couldnt care less about since as long as he performs for juve, thats all that matters.

its like saying canna is crap cuz he was like that at inter but he stepped up at juve like boumsong has

Buffon = Buffon
Thuram > any RB in the current squad
Ferrara & Montero > any current centre back pairing right now
Zambrotta > Chiellini
02/03 midfield > current midfield
Del Piero > Del Piero
Trezeguet = Trezeguet

Souness was an awful manager, he ruined a lot of our players.

With Boumsong it was a confidance thing, I think he's got that back at Juve - which is why he's performing to a good standard.

Boumsong has been ok for us but he still can't be relied on. He lacks concentration and as a Newcastle fan you're bound to know, he makes his fair share of mistakes, costly mistakes.

it was down to souness that boumsongs confidence evapourated, especially at how he showed a lack of support for him whilst he had his personal problems.

Exactly. Don't forget, Boumsong had a decent season, in Serie B.
in serie A i have confidence he will step up when called upon

Buffon = Buffon
Thuram > any RB in the current squad
Ferrara & Montero > any current centre back pairing right now
Zambrotta > Chiellini
02/03 midfield > current midfield
Del Piero > Del Piero
Trezeguet = Trezeguet
again you are talking as if you have already seen our current squad play a season, speak to me once this season is over.

That's true however, EPL is a lot harder than Serie A, EPL is one of the hardest leagues in the world. Which is why Boumsong struggled, when he was in the SPL in Scotland, he was a good player - which is why we originally signed him.

He'll play well in Serie A. :agree:

Well then by that statement you shouldn't have said that this current team is better until this season is over. And I'm not speaking as if I've seen this current squad play, I'm talking about on paper. Explain to me how this squad is better on paper.
