Juve Renew Meira Interest, Bid Imminent
Italian giants Juventus are reportedly ready to test VfB Stuttgart’s resolve with an offer for their star defender Fernando Meira.
A top-rated defender to compliment the signing of Portuguese centreback Jorge Andrade represents the final piece of the Bianconeri jigsaw ahead of their first season back in the Italian top-flight, and Meira, 29, would certainly fit the bill.
The relations between his current and prospective employers are far from amicable, however. The German champions even threatened to file a complaint to FIFA after Juventus allegedly made an illegal approach for the Portuguese defender back in June.
Another obstacle in the Old Lady’s path is Stuttgart’s 20m Euro valuation of the player, who played such a vital role in their securing of their first German title since 1992. Having already spent a considerable amount on Andrade, it is unlikely that Juve will be prepared to dig so deep into their pockets to obtain the services of his countryman.
