Only morons thought Ronaldo was a good gamble, the money should've been invested in 3 WC players in different positions (especially midfielders and wingers at that time), and then even the already declining Allegri could still have a bigger chance to win CL at that time.
Well, you're right. And @Knowah is too actually. Circumstances (covid) played a major role in our downfall.

looks like we signed felix afena gyan (former roma wonderkid) for the next gen. still only 21

https://youtube.com/shorts/Qa5-pwEcvxk?si=76vrgW-j096AkTMm

they might take a gamble on him as a vice milik too

He disappeared the past 2-3 years lol, where has he been. And why is he in Serie C.

Also isn't he more or a winger then CF? Tho didn't see him that much for Roma back then.

Also did we hire some former Roma scout or youth director? It can't be coincidence we sign up Faticanti and Afena Gyan, both hyped Roma youth few years ago.

Afena Gyan was dealing with an injury for the majority of last season. He’s mainly played CF but I think he’s a better fit on the wing because he has game changing speed. I think he’s played CF primarily because he’s also pretty strong. Either way that versatility should appeal to Motta. Let’s hope he gets back on track, because he has the talent to contribute with the first team. His buy option is 4M, I think that shows he’s still valued.

anyways with the first team off, this week is a great time to watch next gen as they play this weekend

Ok heres what I know about this years squad

GK
Daffara- had a good season last year, improved a lot during the season. Guessing hes the starter. Natural shot stopper but his communication and ball playing could use work.

Vinarcik- physically imposing. Havent watched him enough to have an opinion, but Agresti has talked him up and said the club rates him.

CB
Pedro Felipe- good size and surprisingly good on the ball. Has lapses in positioning. Still pretty raw.

Stivanello- pretty solid all around but also doesnt stand out.

Citi- tall as fuck. Thats all I got.

FB
Puczka- new arrival, supposed to be a good prospect. Havent seen him but intriguing. Left footed.

Comenencia- had a good season, is versatile which should appeal to Motta. I think hes a FB in the system as i dont think hes technical enough to be a winger. But hes got decent size so hes got a chance

Mulazzi- I liked him when I saw him with primavera but injuries have stalled his development. From what I remember his leadership qualities stood out and was good in the offensive phase. Make or break season for him imo.

MF
Faticanti- Been a rated prospect for awhile and is still only 20. Havent watched him at club level but hes always stood out internationally. A DM with good passing range. Think Motta will like him, if he doesnt already know him.

Peeters- never really stood out to me, but good to see him playing again.

Owusu- read good things about him, first time really paying attention to him was in the preseason game vs the first team. Looked really good but it was one game.

Macca- Di Natale thinks hes next in line among midfielders for a call up. Only seen him play once but his technical ability stood out. He’s kinda small though.

Palumbo- too ugly for me to invest. Also old for the level.

Papadopoulos- Probably the biggest talent among midfielders. Hes like a mini Koop. Has already made his debut in serie A and should be called up at some point. AM/RW type.

FW
Anghele- probably the best player on NG. He has the size of a central striker but more technical than the typical 9. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got a permanent promotion and pushed Milik out.

Afena-Gyan- most familiar name. Hes interesting because Motta allegedly wanted him. Gives the club depth on the left wing. Good combo of power and speed. Was injured last season so hopefully gets back on track as hes stalled a bit. Still pretty young and relatively inexperienced.

Semedo- Used to kill it in youth league, specifically against juve. Powerful shot, and is a pretty good passer for his position. Dunno what happened at Sunderland. The talent is there, maybe a lower level will be good for his confidence.

Da Graca- another guy whose development got interrupted by injuries. Make or break season for him as well. Had a great goal last week so maybe he puts himself back on the radar. Another #9.

i thought papadopoulos played well until his red (which didnt really have to be a red tbh)

the defense was shit, only guy that didn’t embarrass himself was Felipe.

cudrig isnt good

peeters is very average, even for serie C. Faticanti should eventually replace him

afena gyan was the highlight, and not just because of his goal. He should be on the short list for a promotion

macca is good technically but also loose with the ball. Needs to chill out a little.

dunno where Anghele was, maybe hes getting a call up?

Lamberto Zauli

Among the many arrivals, the one who immediately stole the eye is certainly Afena-Gyan. But among those seen, is there anyone you would like to talk about?

Zauli: "I really liked it in these games, beyond the expulsion with Catania, Papadoupolos who has just arrived from Genoa. I lost my eye on his way of trying to try dribbling and one-on-one continuously, you can see that he is a guy with personality with a very good technique. He's an offensive midfielder who likes to look for a shot on goal, for me he's doing well. Another one I mention is definitely Stivanello who is now in his second year in this category, then there is Macca that I faced last year as an opponent and he had already made a very good impression on me.”
