Lippi 6.5 - Got the game plan right - disrupt Feyenoord's midfield. Good choice of subs in the end.
Actually, he made wierd changes, though i agree his tactics were spot-on.

First change: Thuram out- Iuliano in!!
Thuram was playing very well, he didnt appear to get injuerd. All Lippi did was scramble the defense. this change made Bierindelli switch to the right and Iuliano play on the left.

Second Change: Nedved out- Moretti in
Good to rest Neddy, but he again swtiched the defence.
What happed was:
-Tudor went in the midfield so juve are at this point playing a flat 4-4-2.
-The Gap(CB) that Tudor Left got covered by iuliano.
-The Gap(RB) that iuliano left got covered by bierindelli who swtiched back to the right.
- Then Finally Moretti went to the left.

Final Change: Out Tudor : In Zambrotta
This made davids go from leftM to CM.
Then Zambrotta filled the gap DAvids left on the LM.
------------

Tactics :thumb: it was good that he swtiched the formation becuase 4-4-2 flat is better for counter attacks.

But i didnt like all the confusion in the defense.
Bierindelli's eyes look like this : ---->

I thought our defense was really shaky. I was glad he changed things up because Tudor was struggling a bit. Iuliano is too slow for that right side and Birindelli, well, he just happy to play anywhere!!

Bierindelli wasn't too bad.....Tudor started playing well even before the changed. I'm also glad he put iuliano in the Center. But i dont see why Lippi put him on the left (he didnt play on the right) to begin with!!!!

IMO Tudor was very shaky as a central def, making our whole backline uncertain with his constant mistakes in marking. He forced Iuliano repeatively cover for him and thereby Thuram had to cover for Iuliano and it all end up with Thuram's guy was free on the right.

Tudor for mid!

left side of Feynoord or left of juve??

I would play Tudor in defense anyday!!
I want to see him play as well as he has in the 00-01 season when he was one of the best Defenders in serie A.

i admit, Tudor was $hit in the fist half hour of the game, but after that he only got better and better. He made a few good stops and tackles.

Camo is better than Zambrotta....
not only is he fast, smart, and a good passer, but he also defends well.
he helped the shaky defense today.

180th win for Juve in european competitions!!!

The job is done! We are already in the 2nd stage, probably as group's winners :extatic: I must say that I didn't think that it'll be this easy, but then again Feyenoord's away record is not something to be proud of. Plus the absence of PVH was seen.

We played better than in the last 2 matches, but there were still some things that we should try to improve. We looked like a big mess at moments, passings were wrong, balls were lost, 100% opportunities missed (!!!!) and if we faced a more skillful team the erorrs would cost us!

The game itself was quite entertaining, with counter-attacks, many other good chances were created by both teams, although Juve was the superior team no doubt. But the game didn't flow due to the quite rough game that the dutchies set against Juve. If you take a look at the statistic you'll see that Feyo made 31 ( ) fouls and we humble 13 :D

First of all I have to congratulate Buffon! :mute: His performance today was spotless! So glad he is out of his shaky period! The occasions worth mentioning are: the time when our defence overslept and Lurling's shot was blocked; then there was Feyo's free-kick, which made Gigi pretty busy, since the target was the upper right corner.

The defence: Thuram - Ciro - Tudor - Birindelli; well Tudor found the way home finally! He was not as good as last year or the year before, which is understandable, since he plays in different position every time he steps on the pitch which is kind of confusing, but definitely showed that he belongs in the back line :) On a few occasions the defence was slow or not well organized - not a surprize since they are not used to play together, well at least Tudor and Biri. Biri had a good game, didn't do a huge mistake, even managed some good saves. The frenchman had, once again, a good game and was the starting part in the operation First goal, since he passed the ball to Camo who passed to Di Vaio :cheesy:

I still cannot believe how good Camoranesi is and that we actually have such a jewel. Not to mention how well he goes along with DP, Di Vaio and Nedved :star: He is, by now, an indispensable player in our team! Great two assists and many more passes that made football look sooo easy :touched:

The central midfield could work out some things, still not there yet where I want them to be, but with Tacchi in it I can only pray that it'll improve. Davids did OK, had a beautiful opportunity with his free-kick and made Feyo's keeper really busy, hardly saved it. This was also the incident were Zoetebier hurt his finger and was subed for the 2nd half :undecide:

Nedved was a worker again. Too bad his great shot was saved, but barely :D Also a nice move from Lippi to move him more on the left, out of center in the 2nd half since Rzasa was visible slower and was outplayed by Camo and Nedved on numerous occasions :)

The forward couple formed by DP and Di Vaio was very eager to play and a delight to watch! :D They allowed themselfs, especially DP, a few tricks were the possibility to score was much lower than if they chose an ordinary way, but at the end everything worked out :) DP deserved a goal(s) ... especially with all those over head kicks he was so eager to perform :D

The first time I saw Camo play, I thought that Zambro has a fight on his hands to keep his place.

My player Ratings:

Buffon 9
Thuram 6.5
Tudor 6
Ferrara 5
Bierindelli 6 (played a lot better in the second)

Tacchinardi 6
Davids 6
Camoransei 7.5
Nedved 6

Del Piero 5.5
Di Vaio 6.5

Iuiliano, Zambrotta and Moretti didnt play much :NR
Buffon thoroughly deserves that 9. He saved our a**. If it wasn't for him we could have lost. Di Vaio doesn't deserve any more than the 6.5 given, dispite scoring twice. He was actually quite non-existent,and I didn't realise he was playing in the 2nd half until he scored. I don't know if it's because he just returned from injury or what, but Del Piero was lacking something out there tonight. Il capitano did not look himself and had a very quiet game. he hardly got the ball, and when he did,he made a mess if things. Thuram was excellent in the 1st half, not as good in the second,Birindelli and Tudor looked shaky in the 1st 45 mins, but gotta their acts together in the 2nd half. Gutsy performance from Edgar in midfield, but was cancelled out of the game by Bosvelt,Tacchi was impressive to me. Good solid game from Pavel.

Lippi - Got things right in the whole, but I think Moretti should have started. Bringing in Zambro was a good move, and I hope tp see some more of him against Modena, and definetely in Kiev, where we can rest some players and let him get a run. This is Zalayeta's and Salas' time to prove themselves.

Yeah, did you see that cross on the first goal!!! Zambro needs to take some notes!!

Plus everyone says Zambro is a better defensive player, but Camo is a better all around player. He's adding the creativity that we lack!!!

I have to agree with you. Camoranesi was superb today, that's the least that can be said. He was great defensively and awesome with his passes/crosses. If he continues to play like this, maybe we can play a 3-4-1-2,with him on the right and Zambrotta on the left. That's the only way both of them can be accomidated at the same time. I think we should try it against Modena on Sunday.

Buffon - Thuram,Ferrara,Iuliano - Camoranesi,Tacchinardi,Davids,Zambrotta - Nedved - Di Vaio,Del Piero

Camoranesi = better defensively, better passer and crosser, more creative. Therefore,he is the better player, end of story.
