Well Emerson is much and much better defensively than Lampard.
Emerson is a true dmf, but because of dacourt's presence Emerson has been able to show some forward going prowess.

congrats dom, but wtf, emerson is not superios to lamps at all defensively, emerson has always been in the pirlo style playr, a deep lying playmaker, not a dmf. Lampards not a dm either, but he is chelseas playmaker imo, and imo he is waay better than emerson.

    Congrats on the 1000!!!!!!!!!!!

Lampard is what we need to play a 4-4-2. He is defensive, but very creative.
    Zambrotta----Lampard----Tacchinardi----Nedved

    IMO amazing!

    Thank you John and Lacki.

Also John and Lacki, I do beleive Emerson is a defensive player more like Almeyda(back when he was still good), a defensive player who has some good offensive skills though.
Lampard is more like Maresca, offensive players with some defensive skills. Lampard is more matured as player than Maresca but I just like Maresca so much ;). Just field him, no need to splash the cash on Lampard.
I like the flat midfield too though, with Zambo and Nedved on the flanks, i'd just field Maresca insteaf of Lampard.

I have to agree! Maresca is a massive player and, what I said many times, Prandelli will make him big. Lippi and Maresca had some problems, I think! Prandelli and Maresca should come along better!

Sorry Lacki and Domi, I am not too sure that a straight 4-4-2 will work wonders for us in European competitions. The reason for this is because the lack of depth created by these straight lines of players. IMO the straight 4-4-2 is easily broken down by good teams. For instance, in the Monaco-Chelsea game, Chelsea was easily broken down by a ten man Monaco side, who used their pace and skill to find the holes in midfield to work the ball around and eventually score. The 4-4-2 is a common feature to most English teams as well, and we have seen what they accomplished in European competitions (Only one EPL team, Man U., has played in the C.L. Final for the past 15 seasons). That might not be that much of a relative statment, but in the end football logic wins out. So I hope Prandelli does not use that system.

I think the best system in football now is the 4-2-3-1, which is used by teams like Deportivo, Real Madrid, and sometimes Monaco and Porto. I think it is a well balanced formation, which can both attack and defend with effectiveness. There is depth here that cannot be found in the 4-4-2. And also, it makes us more suited for creating more triangles in the field of play. So if I was Juves coach, here is what I would do:

    Buffon

    Thuram Mexes Ferrari Zambrotta

    Lampard (Enzo) Tacchinardi

Fiore (Camo or Kapo) Nedved Del Piero

    Gilardino

Of course there will have to be different players in some positions, cuz I am not sure if Lampard or Fiore will be wearing bianconeri in the summer.

Cut it out with Maresca porblem!!!! Im enough of him and if you continue to praise him for his(and clubs) missery season I will start to hate him. 24-years-old-still-hot-prospect-Maresca will proove his quality next season....If not,i will laugh at your graves

Funny you should say all that, when in fact Monaco played and often plays a flat 4-4-2.

He is not a problem, he isn't expensive and he is already quality. It is players like Appiah of whom is expected they will finally show their worth next year. Maresca has already, when finally given the chance shown his worth this year.

Some players bloom/mature later than others. Maresca is already a quality player and you can see he has a lot of maturing to do, so he can only get better.

come on maresca hasn't played enough football this season! and the few times he played he honestly impressed me!!!

i am sure if he had played as much as he was supposed to play this season he would of have been in the italy squad going to portugal

I hope he will mature next year too......but Im against arrival of Lampard. Im reading now that he could go to ManU....better for him-better for us. I was just imagening midfield with Emerson-Maresca in CM pair....that would do wonders....
    You change your oppinion easily.

I like the Maresca Emerson pairing though. Pair them with Zambo and Nedved on the flanks :).

Agree, but honestly I never really said that we have to play the 4-4-2. Watch my previous posts. I have nearly the same team like you!
Buffon; Oddo, Thuram, Mexes, Zambrotta; Maresca, Tacchinardi; Kapo, Nedved, Del Piero; Gilardino or Vieri

Come on man, trig was easy! :D
Indeed it was, but when i was comparing Camo's form to trig, I was talking more about sine curves :D

Sorry Graham, but I can't see Moggi buying a new left back to replace Zambrotta, only a back up might come.
    Hence the :groan:

    :(
