5.3mil is quite a lot, he must be good, although the characteristic of having a tall player with "quick feet" reminds me of a certain flop that we sold to inter. I dont think we really need him, zalayeta is settled and can do a decent enough job as it is.
they're quite different players. zigic is poacher, he has good finishing and excellent heading. completelly different.

Category: General

Inter stopper Nicolas Burdisso and Red Star striker Nicola Zigic are set to join Juventus, reports insist.

After a summer of selling following their Calciopoli relegation, the time has arrived to spend and the pair are possible new additions to the Old Lady roster.

The Bianconeri are in need of a central defender and the Argentine has been specifically requested by boss Didier Deschamps.

Burdisso is understood to have expressed his availability to play in Serie B for Juve, despite having received interesting offers from Palermo and Torino too.

The South American may arrive in a co-ownership deal with the Via Durini club, thus allowing Juve to invest money elsewhere.

That cash could be heading off to Serbia with reports in local newspapers Press and Blic suggesting that Zigic is wanted.

Speculation claims that the 25-year-old reached an agreement with the Turin club in Italy last week while his Red Star side faced Milan in the Champions League preliminary round.

Juve have allegedly offered him a three-year contract and are ready to part with £5.3m in an attempt to convince the former European champions to sell the 2m-tall athlete.

Former Red Star boss Walter Zenga rates the youngster highly and believes he could succeed in the peninsula.

“He can still improve a lot and is capable of doing very well upfront, even alone,” said the former Inter and Azzurri goalkeeper.

“If an Italian club were to buy him, I believe it would be a very good deal.”

Source: Football Italia

Yes but there really isnt a need for him. Hopefully if we end up keeping trez, pal and zal, then theres no point in getting this guy. Zalayeta may be different but his already shown what his capable of. Zalayeta may be slower than this zigic, but lets face it our attacking line up will mainly consist of treze and dp and/or bojinov. Whats the point in splashing out for a backup player, it doesnt make much sense to me.

100% true PhRoZeN.

Ibra has better technique, but zigic is much better in the air...I don't like neither.

like i said in the other thread, i wouldn't mind getting zigic, but not at the expense of trezeguet. if we keep trez there's no need for him. zigic is good imo but he has no top leauge experience. besides, he's 26, trez is 28. the choice is plain obvious. i hope we just stick with what we got.

Well, I would not mind to see him in Juve shirt. He has great jumping and heading ability, and for his height(2,02m) a good foot work. I am a Partizan fan(Grobar), and I really don't like Red Star, but i gotta admit that Zigic is maybe the best striker Serbia currentlu has.

Ok,but from the previous experiences I choose to have some loyal players in the club, and Zala isn't that bad,he didn't have a right chance.

Recently, the players from yugoslav leagues suck a lot.

yeah they did suck but i think zigic would do good in juve. he's talented, a typical striker. having him wouldn't hurt us. i don't rate zalayeta much. i mean hats off for staying with us through thick and thin, but i think he himself knows he is not good enough to be a starter for juventus. it would be much better for him if he played in some other club as a starter. and zigic could yet, become a starter for juve in the future.

It is not so important mate, because the serbian league is one of the Europe's worst.:disagree:

Man,why are we chasing these kind of players?
yeah it does suck, much like the rest of the ex-yu leauges. but that doesn't mean a good player can't come from there. zigic is a good striker. it's obvious to me, and i have seen him play only a number of times. fact that arsenal wanted to pay 10 mil for him says something. and if wenger gives a green light, it's GOTTA mean something.

Palladino is talented,Volpato and Bojinov too.

Trezeguet is a typical striker.

We can say that for every damn player.

True, we have set our goals in transforming this squad to a group of youngsters with a blend of experience. Zigic is a risk, he has no "italian" experience. Also our priority should be a defender.

you took one sentence out of context. it's obvious you dislike zigic personally, but that doesn't change the fact he is talented and a lot of europe's clubs are after him. personally if wenger wanted to splash over 10 mil, that's enough assurance for me.

and i agree phrozen, that a defender should be a priority. i give a green light to burdisso as well. at inter it's hard to show your true talent, and i think he can get better.
