Probably because in far too many games that I care to mention, he's been the only consistent spark out on Juve's front line when he's taken the field.
Just take a look at the season's end median scores from
Calcio 2000 through week 31, compiled from Corriere dello Sport, Gazetto dello Sport, and Tuttosport:
Miccoli: 6,13
Del Piero: 5,98
Di Vaio: 5,85
Trez: 5,96
I would say those numbers seem accurate and reflect the performances of Juve's attack this year.
But as others have stated here, yeah -- give me Miccoli over testing out Cheva on a big team anyday.
