Schalke 04 have reportedly told Juventus they must complete a deal for Julian Draxler by Sunday, or not at all.

The Bianconeri have had an initial offer for the German international rejected, but are still believed to be keen to bring the 21-year-old to Turin, and have a deal with the player.

According to Calciomercato and TuttoJuve, the Bundesliga side have set a deadline of Sunday for another offer, as they will not consider any bids after that day.

The purported reason is that the club’s open day is on Sunday, and Die Königsblauen do not wish to present one of their star men to the fans, only to have him leave.

Juventus are in no rush to complete the transfer, but may have their hand forced by Schalke, who wish to know as soon as possible whether they will have Draxler for next season.

They probably want to buy a replacement before the start of the season. They aren't doing anything wrong, just good business.
They don't behave in a professional manner.First of all they said that the negotiations are over and forbid us to talk with the player. Now,suddenly we have to buy him up to Sunday.Their official explanation about this is that they will present the squad for the next season in Sunday so they want to know if they will put Draxler also or not. They can go a fuck themselves or try to ask for some real world money ,not just repeath,30 millions,30 millions etc. They won't get a dime from us if they act in that manner.

    What?

A ton of people have said this mercato has been an absolute disaster and Marotta is incompetent. It's not just 1 or another guy. It's their narrative, it was like this last summer, and as soon as the Vidal rumours started popping up, it happened this summer. And the number of people that have gone full 180 on Pirlo and now seem to think he was one of the best players in our squad last season is pretty much hilarious.

Calling me crazy. You must be crazy, or blind, if you've been reading the same nonsense I have and haven't noticed the dramatic overreaction to this mercato. The number of people who have said that if we don't get a top AM like Gotze or Isco, this mercato is a disaster, well that number isn't small.

And yes, there are also people rationally worried about replacing Vidal and Tevez. That's perfectly fine. I'm worried about replacing Vidal and Tevez. Not as worried as others, as even if Dybala and Khedira aren't on the same level, they'll keep us very competitive, and adding Mandzukic rounds out our forwards nicely. Our midfield has a wealth of options, and even if our strongest XI is slightly weaker this year, we have much better depth with a more fully integrated Sturaro, and a more experienced Pereyra. Our backline hasn't changed at all, except reinforcing it with a potential world class defender in Rugani.

As I said, there's absolutely no reason for people to have anything but faith in our management, and the fact that a very high proportion of their moves have been excellent over the last 4 years. If that trend continues this summer, we'll be just fine.

This. I haven't once said that our management is infallible. They make mistakes, of course. But the proportion of good/excellent transfers to poor transfers is fantastic, they've been on of the best management teams in football for the last 4 years. It's just beyond me that anyone wouldn't have faith that they'll do their job well. All evidence points in that direction.
Almost fully agree with you, I don't really care if people said it or not.

But to say the starting team is slightly worse... it's a tough claim. Could be considerably worse, could be at the same level.. who knows if actually it's better?

Now, the starting team, regarding the pieces Allegri had last year, should have a midfield of Marchisio - Vidal (CM) - Pogba - Pereyra (AM). We all know this was the best team available.

Now, so far we have modifications in the following positions:

    CM - Vidal for Khedira

    AM - Dybala for Pereyra

    Forward - Tevez for Mandzukic

While Vidal can't be compared to Khedira, Dybala apparently is more talented than Pereyra at AM. We lose grinta, win in skill.

But Losing Tevez for Mandzukic is what affects the whole equation here. Mandzukic is a good player, but we have yet to see the chemistry between him - Morata - Dybala.

I prefere Morata as a CF, with freedom for the occasional run/counter, don't like him as an SS.

So changing Morata's position and losing Tevez makes us weaker at the front. I'd say it's a considerable change so far. We could be considerably weaker upfront.

Excellent post. I'm in agreement with pretty much everything here. I suppose I've been considering mostly the individual pieces in attack this year, rather than the potential of how they will do playing together. Tevez-Morata was amazingly effective. I think in terms of individual pieces: Morata, Mandzukic, Dybala, Zaza, Coman is stronger and has far better depth than Tevez, Morata, Llorente, Matri, Coman. Especially with Morata and Coman having a year more experience. But it's figuring out how to fit them together in one attack to play effectively where as things stand out attack is "considerably" weaker. It's hard to say how well Morata-Dybala-Mandzukic will play together, and if we get an AM like Draxler what exactly we do with our forwards. It could surprise us, but as things stand, weaker like you say.

They have also made stupid signings and hiring of coaches likes del neri and the likes of armand traore, anelka, overspending on our own player in giovinco only to fail etc... so please dont serve it up that they are untouchable from any criticism because they have made some big mistakes in the past as well
You mentioned two loan players and giovinco who, apart from his abysmal personality really looked like a player se should bring back, at a fair price too. The 15g11a season is a much better output than what Dybala has delivered until now.
