maybe marotta should have taken a leaf out of schalke's books before letting Vidal go so easily.
We sold him for a price the club deemed acceptable. That's how transfers work. So Schalke can ask for whatever price they consider acceptable, be it €20m or €40m, doesn't mean either party has to cater for the other.

Draxler on facebook: "the season begins in a few days, we are ready, are you ?".
Was that posted in Italian?

Nope. This is the original post: "ur noch wenige Tage bis zum BL - Saisonstart. Wir sind startklar! Seid ihr es auch? ‪#‎bethedifference‬#ACE15#bundesliga". With a photo of him in a Schalke kit.

I disagree. You can have good manners and character in business. It's not called charity, it's called being sustainable. By being respectful to all your stakeholders your business will have good image, and in turn, more customers.
we are not a schalke stakeholder, schalke prez and DS are respectful to their stakeholder by maximizing returns.

"We are interested in Draxler, but he's still a Schalke player and a lot will depend on their will. We're not in any rush -- there's time. We want to put a couple of cherries on top of the cake that has been our transfer market."
I understand the bolded past as "We've given up unless Heldt gets hit by a rock and changes his mind" and the last sentence indicates to me that they are looking at other players in the meantime. Dont get me wrong, the mercato has been terrible so far but I really enjoy not being ripped off by Schalke

Draxler is just one option. He might be the first option or the third but that's it. As a club without limitless spending power we are no different to others, they either accept our highest offer or we go elsewhere, we really aren't privy to all interest, enquiries or even offers made by our club.

as far as am concerned, Schalke were respectful to us in the beginning allowing us to negotiate with the player (in turn telling the press) until we made a clown first offer (which shockingly many don't find insulting) if for anything, it is us who changed their mood to hostile, please quit making Heldt the demon here and Marotta the angel, the fact that we were happy to let Vidal go easily doesn't apply to every club.

a person whos trying to get the best deal possible for their team? i wouldnt expect anything less, also people dont get in business to reward good manners and character, thats called charity
But reputation is very important in business too. There were voices that Schalke response to our bid was unprofessional and they were criticized by some commentators. It doesn't sound very tempting and encouraging for future suitors.

Anyway, Heldt attitude shows that they are ready to sell Draxler before the window is closed. Otherwise, they wouldn't care about spreading this drama over all the media around.

Never even mentioned Marotta, I never said Schalke should let go of Draxler, and that quote was when I responded to X about having good manners in business. I'm not making Heldt the devil here, from the start I just said that going to the press to "auction" your players is a negotiation tactic that I don't like. If Marotta does that, be sure that I'll be the first to criticize him, because it'll make us look like a cheap club. You could agree and disagree, it's up to you. The discussion revolves around this and not about Marotta and Heldt personally.

I know what stakeholders are and no we are not customers, schalke can exist just fine without us
Well we are if we are buying and they are selling. And yes they can survive without us, because we are only one, but if they treat everybody like this, then I doubt others would respect them when doing business.

Wait, when did this turn to a a business ethics course.

no, we are not, it would be like a business disposing of a machine or vehicle, they could care less who buys as long as they meet their valuation, there is not custmoer relation here, simple buyer and seller. you took it there homeboy :D

ok but i think out first offer must have upset them real bad plus our reputation as penny pinchers must also be a driving force for Heldt to use the press to get his way or no way, hopefully no epl club wades in so we can close this soon enough, i really hope we don't lose him over a 2m difference, that would suck.

Your relations with the buyer/seller when disposing the machine/vehicle stops when you finish the transaction. I doubt Juventus and Schalke would stop doing business with each other after a transfer.

And did you just compare a football player with a used washing machine?
