We'd be a laughing stock losing out to a broke Milan who seemingly have more money than us.
i´ve read this several times now and imo it´s bullshit. the player is worth a certain amount of money to us and to milan.
if they value him way higher than we do and want to risk falling into another hole then let them do it...
i obviously hope that we will get him but if they come out and offer 30m+ cash (just to say a number) then i really hope marotta runs away as soon and as far as possible.

That would be fine, if we took that 25M and tried to buy other players with it. But we probably won't, we'll end up being muscled by Milan and going after somebody like Nani

And I don't see why we'd even entertain bids upwards of 20M if we didn't consider Iturbe a high priority target.

Quite simply if we're going after first team players and can't outbid Milan, then what on earth will we ever do against clubs like United, Chelsea, Madrid etc etc

Losing out on Iturbe is one thing as is the price which is a valid claim.But....Losing out on him to an 8th place peasant club who hardly have a solid project is like making a mockery of ourselves,i mean we're Italian champs for gods sake.
Also i dont know if we'll get anyone better. If we're fishing outside Italy for our targets, there's big chance they wont accept our billion installments deal, so we'll have to wait and see where our scouts lead us too.Id be really disappointed if we settle for the likes of Ibarbo or Cerci in the end

We should have seal the Sanchez deal early enough before WC. Now we lost him, we move for Iturbe. Let's say we lose Iturbe, whose next?

at a certain point it´s not about "can we outbid them" it´s about "should we outbid them".
just as an example: let´s assume we had 45m to spend and milan decided to go broke and offerd 43m for iturbe... should we outbid them just to show that we can? fuck no...

then what on earth will we ever do against clubs like United, Chelsea, Madrid etc etc
you ask what we are going to do if we get into a bidding war with clubs who bought shaw and illaramendi for 30m+ and torres for 60m?
well absolutely nothing if the player himself doesn´t prefer us a lot ^^

Some very weird posts.

This has nothing to do with losing vs Milan in a bidding war. But not buying a player cause the value is very high (for no reason).

It's like Cagliari's new owner comes and decides to buy him for 35mln. That wouldn't be us losing a bid war against Cagliari.

I don't see Milan pulling this move.

Yeah there needs to be a limit, the worry is that we will then turn to someone like Ibarbo.

That's the thing though, if we can't outbid Milan for a player like Iturbe, we can kiss any hopes of signing any top class player or even top class prospect in the next 5 years. Of course, you can always get incredibly lucky with a Pogba or Vidal type deal, but the circumstances in which they happen are pretty rare.

What kind of message does this send to the fans? At first we moan about Italy being in a mini crisis and not having enough money to compete with top clubs, and then we go and get toppled by the likes of Milan (If it does happen)

Obviously, there's a cut off point where you say "No way in hell should we pay that" But for under 30M it may be overpriced but that's the way it is now. No top player or highly rated 21 year old is going for cheap. It's not just about being outbid by Milan, it's about our seemingly primary target who's probably going for under 30M not coming to us because we're afraid to spend anything over 15M.

I'd love somebody to list 3 legit alternatives to Iturbe.

Because the way I see it, the ones we want are way too pricey for us. And our primary realistic target is Iturbe. Who do we turn to after that? Ibarbo, Nani?

Are we sure Milan arent just staging a fake bidding war to do a favour to Verona for some other reason/deal? It sounds odd otherwise.

Id love to hear that too_Oh and players who would come with the same wages as Iturbe(1.5-2m) which is what is making this deal plausible for us.
