And why Cuadrado cannot be teached to learn RB?. He has some idea of defending, he is very fast, has great stamina. He can try and emulate what Alves did in that position with a more conservative approach.

I would prefer someone like him there...than having a near-retire Licht and Barza getting skinned by the Mbappes of the world. Or worst, stuart little.

That way we can free the RW spot for someone like Bernardeschi who has more footbal and assist in him than Cuadrado...and most important... is a leftie who knows how to score.

I agree. The way our situation is now requires some creative solutions. I think Cuadrado could be a decent full back, he just needs to be schooled and kept in a leash. No stupid ball losses, easy passing, and explosive overlaps.

With his pace he can track back much more effectively than de sciglio or Licht

Nah, I recall Zach arguing that Cuads in 352 would be ideal for him but the argument I was referring to was filling the defensive void should Licht not be playing and Cuads not being able to do it. When I have time I’ll dig up some old posts from the game threads they are there somewhere

One thing is sure, even our players underestimate his pace. I counted at least five times yesterday where he made a run and the pass was a yard or so behind him.

Cuadrado, when in form, is basically essential for our 4-4-2. We don't have another RM that can compensate for 2 strikers marauding up front. Can Berna or Costa track back the way he does? There's no chance.

His best position is still wing back. Something like the 3-4-2-1 we had off an on last year fits him the best. Like others, I'm terrified of him at the back post. I'm terrified of him having to slot in beside Chiellini when Benatia gets caught in midfield. It's just such a commitment to play RB in a 4 man line. You have to be drilled constantly just to push up at the same time as Chiellini, for example. I could see it being a huge disaster.

But for sure if we're chasing the game go ahead and put him there and take the safety off.

I could see it being a disaster, but I also think there is a small chance it could be a succes. Some of the best attacking FB in the world was originaly wingers (Marcelo, Alves etc.) At least having him as a RB would improve our offense a lot.

Bad analogy. Benatia's natural position is cb, despite being a terrible defender so he probably still is better than Claudio at cb, who also no striking qualities that make a CB. As things stand however, we have a midfielder in Sturaro playing as full back, if we are going to gamble then we might as well put Cuadrado. A winger is always easier to convert into a full back, look at Zambrotta as an example.

Agree with this. People who actually is afraid of trying cuad as fullback are absolutely coward. These people are stuck in old times and prolly still think that Italian catenaccio will win you ecl. Italian tactics and strategies are useless now as players come and go often. Don't have time to gel in these complicated defense system. The modern era is all about straight forward football. Attack and take the game to your opponents. People that still romanticize catenaccio are dudes that still watch godfather over and over again thinking it can hold up to today's blockbuster. Frankly speaking, godfather is boring as f after I watch it more than two times.

RB initially, then quickly changed to RM, both in 4-4-2 and 4-3-3. Because they realized it was a waste to have him far back when he did things like this:
