I wonder how much Marotta made a profit out of this deal, you can't convince me that there is no commission/robbery in this deal.

I don't know why, but I still believe in this guy. Maybe a coach, who has a clue that forward shouldn't be playing left midfielder and even not an attacking one, would help to revive him.

A 26, 27 or a 28 year old finally making his move to a big or rich team and then becoming one of the world's best in his position is a very rare thing. It happens sometimes (Camoranesi from Verona to Juve when he was soon to be a 26 year old is an example), but it's an 1 in 100 case. Usually there is a good reason, which has to do with lack of quality, why those 26-28 year olds never made it to a bigger club.
Unfortunately, we made many such transfers in the last 4 years, expecting the 26-28 bought from Empoli, Palermo, Catania, Udinese, Cagliari to be our starters and put our team back on the map among the world's best.
Almiron, Amauri, Iaquinta didn't do that and didn't make us a better team. Neither will Matri, Pepe and the guy from this thread, Martinez. Quag is the only one who might make it, but even he is a doubt.
I know that we aren't a team that has patience with younger players and we require immediate results. But I wish our directors thought about the realistic possibility that those guys from Empoli and Catania won't be the ones who'll bring results and instead of buying them for big money, they either invested in very talented younger players or bought 1 star instead of 3 twentysix-twentyeight year old guys from Empoli/Catania.

I kinda agree. I see so much potential in this dude and I'm telling myself he hasn't been able to perform due to his usual standards because of injuries and being played out of position but it might be just my affinity for Uruguayans that is fogging my eyes.

He seems like the Amauri of our wingers for the time being.... Though he might feel forced to play with some injuries, just to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I honestly think he'd be a decent player if he was on one of these:

Seriously, I've never seen a player at this level having such a hard time running :p

Buffon

Sorensen - Bonucci - Chiellini - De Ceglie

Aquilani - Melo - Marchisio

Krasic - Quagliarella - Martinez

Where would this team have finished this season, thoughts?
