martinez was a beast for catania last season!!!
I wouldn't say he was a beast last season, yeah total of 9 goals(?), scored a good goal against Inter but also got injured at the end of the season. I guess it's easier to shine in a side like Catania.

Anyway to be fair to him he did good for Catania in overal , but so did Candreva for us IMO and he's also 4 years younger than Martinez.

Anyway let's wait and see how Martinez will perform for us.

What Candreva did is better than Martinez. Although i like Candreva and thought he has potential.. He is not doing much for us, it's not like he is sensational for us.. And his price is more expensive.. 7m for just his half rights mean 14m to buy him..

And why you say it's easier to do better for Catania? I thought it will be easier to score or shine in a bigger club like some people's theory here about it's easy for Eto'o to score goals for Barca while there is Xavi and Messi.. And so why Candreva did not do better in Udinese and Livorno?

Well, Candreva was already playing in Juve, in one of their worst season, but he co-oped with the pressure, showed promises and actually looked good in a shet team.
Scored a 30 something yards out cracker and was part of some of our goals during his half season loan spell here eventhough came as a sub in most of the games he played.

He's 4 years younger, versatile in midfield (could have covered 4th choice CM for us now) and is also Italian (ItalJuve project obviously LOL).
Now when you have this option why would you go and gamble the money on a Catania "beast" who's 27 now and who knows he might still be injured from last season. We issued his price when infact Martinez was only 2mil cheaper.

And yes it's easier to shine at Catania because you can't compare the pressure on players in bigger teams. different objectives in diffrent clubs (Juve and Catania in this case)

Note: Again I'm not saying Martinez is a horrible player I just see Candreva as the better purchase.

maybe i cant see the things objetive..because im a big fan of martinez
he si a very versatile and complete player too...not a superstar...

but i did not say that he was better than candreva( candreva,sissoko,melo,marchisio...great midfield)

and btw its stupid to campre the 2 players..they are too diferent..one offers quality the other quantity

That would've been too much for Candreva if you ask me. I don't know all that much about Martinez, but with everyone still asking for other wingers and hardly ever including him even in current line-ups, I doubt he'll be good value for money.

I hope he proves to be useful though. :xfinger:

Candreva would cost €15m.
B3NJi post said it all man.so what if candreva would have cost 15mln in 2 years???martinez cost 12 in a single one.3mln difference mean nothing to Juve

Yes, not very encouraging at all.

I'm slowly starting to get a bit worried about this mercato.

Atleast, so far, it looks like we've upgraded the defence quite a bit. That's a start.

Me too. Not nearly enough to enter the panic which has taken over 90% of this forum, but it's concerning that we're not selling easily. Tiago to Atlético Madrid for 2 and a half months now.

Exactly. You're, along with very few others, usually the voice of reason around here Salv.

Bit under 3 weeks left now, so we have to start making some progress.

I'm worried about the mercato as well, but most of that worry revolves around the fact that we conceded more goals than Atalanta last season... and so far we've added an unproven RB (albeit one with potential), and Bonucci (who I think will be awesome).

Cannavaro moving is addition by subtraction (Grosso would be the same), but DC is nowhere near a proper 1st choice LB, we're still short a CB... and if Motta gets hurt (or struggles), Grygera will be getting major minutes.

Boooooooo this strategy. We need to focus on shoring up that back line... because despite the fact that it held against Shamrock... well, that's not the litmus test I've been waiting for.

This defense is too weak to challenge for silverware... and it's been the same story since Calciopoli.
