Juve to sever Andrade ties Tuesday 16 September, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are close to agreeing a contract rescission with Portuguese international defender Jorge Andrade.

The 30-year-old joined the Bianconeri from Deportivo La Coruna last summer, but he broke his left rotula at the start of the 2007-08 campaign.

Just as he was nearing a return to fitness, Andrade damaged the same kneecap during pre-season training and was sentenced to another lengthy spell out of action.

Juve have decided to offer to buy out Andrade's contract to ensure that they don't have to pay the injured stopper's wages until the expiry of his deal in June 2010.

The signing of Andrade has backfired badly for the Old Lady, who have invested over £8m and seen very little in return.

Re the highlighted last paragraph, doesn't the insurance come into this factor. Surely we can recoup some of the £8m outlay?

i saw Criscito against milan last game and he was very good ......
I completely forgot he plays for Genoa. Despite Milan playing shit, you surely have to have some abilty to stop the likes of Sheva, Ronaldinho and Kaka. Could it be he is slowly becoming the player we thought he will? If so, he would be a sweet addition to the squad.

I've bagged out Mimmo a lot but I must admit his performance against Milan was pretty impressive especially as he was marking quality opponents and he usually gets burned alive against good players (although all of Milan have been woeful lately).. I hope he keeps it up

I think his job was to mark Kaka and he really did a very good job. Ok, Kaka missed the entire pre-season and he came back from his knee injury less than a week before the match, but even this Kaka is hard to stop and Mimmo did it without a problem.
Ferrari was even more impressive.
