these SeireA free trades are deceiving, just look at Milan's wage structure. Mexes is supposedly on €4m net + agent fees + signing on bonus, that makes him more expensive than Bonucci's wages+amortization costs. Llorente most probably costs more than what Matri used to cost Juve per year (wages+ amortization of €15.5m over 5 years). Lewandowski was reported to get a €15m signing on fee, that wouldn't have been the case if Bayern were paying Dortmund a transfee fee. there are hidden costs to these trades, you have to consider these before getting excited by free. also more importantly, Menez shouldn't be a starter for a Juve dreaming of the semifinals or finals of CL, so whatever the cost, it's going to be for a bench player. it's also affects Juve's and SeireA's image and commercial capabilities when they try their luck with washed up unwanted players.

As far as free signings go, he could be a very usevul one

Yes there will be a few million worth of unaccounted fees. But if we're not prepared to spend a couple million euros then we have no business being in Europe really.

Menez cannot command a high wage as he's fallen off the radar, and no longer wanted by PSG who weren't even paying him a high wage despite being mega-rich.

He is in no position to extort anybody.

A 0.5m signing fee +2m annual wages would probably cut it. And that's nothing, really.

Menez's on €3.4m net now according to http://www.tsmplug.com/, if he comes for free he might be earning close to Pirlo or Vidal. the alternative is renew Giovinco who imo is similar level winger and backup, currently eaning around €1.5m net, plus if Giovinco is renewed his amortization cost would cost down from around €3.5m to €1.2m, that will hopefully go to the transfer budget (add about €10m to transfer fees that can be amortized over 4 or 5 years).
I much rather Juve go big on a winger and get a promising youngster for backup than pay washed up players like Menez wages like that.

problem is we don't have any decent fit right winger in the squad. Conte cannot play a winger inclusive formation, his options are limited. a fit SP7 would have sufficed, but he is injured all the time and is fair to assume he won't be coming back.

Dude... you do know that amortization isn't actual money we spend, right?

wow! I want to hear, what you think about how transfer fees are expensed and financed annually.

:sigh: actually no, but I would prefer that you google how and why assets are amortized or depreciated to get a minimum understanding, otherwise this conversation is hopeless.
