The stadium pricing plan:
http://rassegnastampa.comune.torino.it/PDF/2009/2009-11-20/2009112014264136.pdf
Club Giovanni Agnelli - 250 seats - €10k/year = €2.5m
Club 100 - 500 seats - €6.5k/year = €3.25m
Tribuna Boniperti - 650 seats - €4k/year = €2.6m
Tribuna Sivori - 1600 seats - €2.5k/year. = €4m
3000 premium seats will generate €12.35m. According to Juventus.com, it’s actually 3736 seats instead of the 3000 that link states, so add another €3m to that total, bringing us to
€15.35m.
There are also 62 VIP boxes in total, and according to the above website, 39 of the 62 have already been sold. The prices range from €50k/year to €130k/year.
I imagine the majority would be the 50k boxes. Let’s say half (31) of the 62 fall under the 50k a year boxes (€1.55m a year). For the remaining 31, let’s say 20 are at 100k a year (€2m a year) and the remaining 11 at 130k a year (€1.43m a year).
62 VIP boxes will bring us
€4.98m a year.
In total, 3736 premium seats and 62 VIP boxes will bring us
€20.33m a year.
Season ticket sales this season amounted to €7.1m after 19,048 season tickets were sold, and assuming this number stays the same in 2011, it brings our total of “pre-sold” seats to
€27.43m a year. This is already more than what the Olimpico can generate.
The stadium holds 41,000 people, meaning we still have 18,216 seats to sell for each match day.
Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina, Napoli are guaranteed sell outs ---> at €25 a tickets = 2.27m . If for the remaining 33 league games we only sell only half of the 18,216 tickets left for €25 each, we will generate €7.5m, bringing our total from match day sales to
€9.77m.
Total =
€37.2m, which is a huge underestimate because:
a) I'm assuming the 50k/year boxes will account for 31 of the 62 VIP boxes.
b) I'm assuming the 19,048 season tickets at our new stadium will generate the same amount of money the exact same number of tickets would generate at the Olimipco, despite the services/view/quality of the new stadium being a giant leap forward, and therefore would probably be priced higher.
c) I didn't account for the money generated from the restraunts, shops and a museum which the stadium will host and which will make money even when no matches are being played.
d) I'm assuming we will only sell out against 5 teams and that all the remaining tickets will be sold at €25 each.
e) I did not add the revenue from CL and Coppa Italia matches, which for the former, will undoubtedly attract large crowds since were playing against Europe's elite.
I remember reading our management stating they expect to make at least €40m a year from the new stadium, and based on my above calculations, I would say even that is a very conservative estimate.
Lastly, I remember reading that the new stadium was needed since the new revenue sharing agreement for broadcast rights in Italy would mean we would make substantially less. In 1 of the Juventus.com financial reports, they state we will make €87m from the new deal, compared to the €95m we make now. In other words, nothing to be concerned about.
