With the tournament’s book of records being dominated by Juventus and Milan, it’s no surprise that Del Piero and Shevchenko are the Princes of goal of the Italian Super Cup. Both the Bianconeri captain and the Milan champion scored three goals in the tournament: Del Piero hit the target in 1998 against Lazio and in 2002 he scored two goals against Parma, in the edition played in Tripoli, Lybia. Shevchenko topped the table in just one shot: last year’s Golden Ball winner beated Lazio scoring three goals.

Here is the complete list of all the Supercoppa scorers:

    3 goals
    Del Piero
    Shevchenko

    2 goals
    Batistuta
    Careca
    Silenzi
    Van Basten
    Vialli
    Inzaghi
    Claudio Lopez
    Mihajlovic

    1 goal
    Rijkaard
    Mannari
    Cucchi
    Serena
    Baggio R.
    Crippa
    Mancini
    Melli
    Massaro
    Simone
    Gullit
    Savicevic
    Conte
    Nedved
    Sergio Conceicao
    Guglielminpietro
    Crespo
    Boghossian
    Keane
    Farinos
    Stankovic
    Vampeta
    Candela
    Montella
    Totti
    Di Vaio
    Pirlo
    Trezeguet

Television replays did indeed show that David Trezeguet’s goal on the stroke of half-time was not in an offside position, so the Bianconeri have reason to complain.

Delle Alpi, Saturday August, 20th: Juventus and Inter will compete for the season’s first tournament, the Italian Super Cup. Kick off at 21:00. Bianconeri supporters’ expectation is high for this season’s first official match of Capello’s squad, after their summer training and friendly matches (only the Gamper tournament is left, scheduled on next Wednesday), always followed by remarkable attendance.

Unfortunately, summer brought along some injuries too: Buffon, after surgery to his right shoulder, will be off for about 3 months and Birindeli, who suffered an injury to his right knee, will be unavailable too for a few months. Besides, some players have minor injuries and their conditions will be estimated a few hours before the match.
Inter, who are playing Champions League’s qualifications, have met the Bianconeri in the Tim and Birra Moretti tournaments.
The referee for the match will be Mr Massimo De Santis.

How was the wedding? Mine's on hold, she's going for a Master's programme. :yuck: Maybe I should apply for one :(
    ;)

The wedding turned out better than the Supercoppa for us at least.

A friend of mine who is one of the classiest, most honorable guys I know had a great wedding at the Santa Clara University chapel followed by a reception at the very cool Villa Montalvo. (I usually don't say that about weddings. ;) )

As for you two, well if it's right ... no need to rush much. My wife and I were together for 7 years before we got married.

Wow. That's pretty messed up. Can't say this match looked like a model for ref training, but that's pretty extreme.

Perhaps the refs are out of form too and need the practice.

Probably sounds weird but i prefer to lose games in the pre-season, even if is a supercup, than in serie A or CL . Some defeats at this stage tend to dissolve over-confidence and can be a reactive for the team, to initiate season more focused.

Regarding the game, i concur with Capello: we were better. But they were more effective.

And i just hope that Balzaretti fulfill the expectatives about him, because Zebina sadly, just degrades our defensive capacities. He is bench material....

HARD LUCK....we were good last night, but we wasted many chances that would have secured us the title

If only Vieira's header would have gone in !!!!! and that close chance by Del Piero

A 100% clear goal for Juve cancelled for Trezeguet !!!!!

Camo and Mutu were the worst yesterday

Del Piero didn't give his best

Chimenti , though conceding a goal, played well IMO .but still he won't make much appearances for the team after we signed Abbiati

At this stage of the pre-season, I would much rather play well and lose the Supercoppa than look like crap and win.

I'm not in a rush. She's the academic type (unlike yours sincerly), so I know that I have to let her get the PhD if she wants it. :yuck:
