Stop belittling Juventus by comparing it with Serie A teams. Is this where we want to go? Sabatini bought a bunch of midtier players for his midtier side. By their standards a great job but we should place our ambition at the level of European top teams once and for all. Ofc Beppe looks good next to Roma but how does our transfer window look next to Bayern? 54mil net spend, they got in 2 WC players, kept their stars, signed a number of talents, no panic buys everybody important signed months ago. That's a fucking mercato as opposed to our merdato

Bayern revenue - €500m+

Juventus revenue - €350m

Bayern average age last season - 27 something

Juventus average age last season - 30 something

- - - Updated - - -

Not to mention significant difference in both teams' wage bill.

tbh I just hope this is a longer term project. because bringing in broken freebies like khedira and has beens who never even that good like Hernanes isn't going to cut it. if we keep signing 1-3 dybalas & sandros each year we might be where we were last season in a few years.

if we can keep pogba & morata maybe something like this in a few years

Leali(??)
Vrsaljko(??)-Bonucci-Rugani-Sandro
Pogba-Marchisio-Asamoah(??)
??
Dybala-Morata

Net fucking spend 54mil, revenue is absolute irrelevant. They spent less than we did

:sergio:

They already have a top squad. Most of their players are in their prime , what do u expect ?

Not to mention they pay a wage of €6.5m net for the likes of Vidal let alone the other top players in their team who earn much higher.

I would normally agreed with this point as a general one. But in this case, why is it irrelevant? They barely have to touch their squad (besides Pep ostracizing someone new lol), only occasionally rejuvenate. They are filled with quality so dont need to spend more then that. Plus they have no issue attracting players when they need to.

Well maybe they have a top squad BECAUSE they have ALWAYS been FOCUSING their budget at few great players, even and especially during bad times. You get a top squad by signing top players and not by lurking in Internazionale's trashcan, a day before mercato closes, with a position that has been declared #1 priority six months ago, when you are at your most attractive point, with a record revenue of the last 10 years. It' not getting better from here on. And then instead of slamming your foot in the door we put our dick inside and smash the door:sergio:

Not to mention over the years , they've built their squad over the best German talents.
That is how they got to the position they are in now.
Bundesliga clubs bend over when Bayern come calling. Our situation is so so different.

Neither there's a great Italian generation nor we have teams in Italy that bend over when Juventus come calling for their best players.

Maybe players moving is not some kind of natural disaster nobody can be blamed for, dear handsweretiedogists. Except Ogbonna every major departure was a mismanagement, some neglectible some infuriating. Regarding the age, Evra could have done one more year just fine.

And next year we wouldn't have Alex Sandro.

Sabatini had a + 25M mercato, we had a - 55M one. 80M difference, not exactly small.

He also has less money to spend on salaries, runs a smaller club which can't attract top players.

If he's going to have to buy these guys next season, let's wait for next offseason to compare both mercatos then. But for this one he did a hell of a job.
