Injuries are hard to predict, and Roma were hit pretty hard by them last year, but without numerous injuries they will be a serious challenger. They had to fight against a super strong and non stop winning Juventus. They imploded mostly because it's hard to give your everything, keep winning and realize it's futile because Juve are winning even more. It breaks you.
This year they kept the core and strengthened where they were thin. If they start with confidence, connect more wins in a row and see Juve not doing as well as usual, it will actually work the opposite way compared to the previous years. They might have the psychological edge this time. Add the fact that they have a pretty good team and there you have a very (only) serious challenger.
It's gonna be a huge surprise for me if Roma don't finish top 2 come late May.
Maybe. Injury-riddled seasons fall in the circumstances category. With Roma, however, there seems to be something non-circumstantial but rather something constant and steady in time when it comes down to their being virtually always bridesmaid and never the bride.
I have always thought Roma is Roma's biggest enemy, though. That is, they have a history of mental breakdowns and lack of winning mentality that have epitomized that club for many years now (except probably while Capello was at the helm). They simply lack the right mentality of a winner, the ability to overcome adversity in the course of a season. If they want to become a serious challenger and not just a team with talent on the roster that carries the illusion of a challenge, they need to fix exactly that, imo.
Given the landscape in serie A, I can also see them finish 2nd behind Juve. In fact, that's probably the most likely scenario right about now. That doesn't mean they would have really ever challenged Juve, though, which was my earlier point.
you are not really saying anything with that statement, which can be applied to any top team with a fairly new coach, your prediction is basically i was right all along

milan is a joke from the top down and as long as the top is rotten then it will continue to be that way
Believe it or not, I know what you are talking about, yet, somehow, you got it all wrong

In 2011-12, I am sure a lot of teams changed their coaches, yet the only team I saw potentially challenging Milan for real was Juve. Not because of any single player they had acquired, but because of the Conte factor and the change in mentality he brought in with him.
Actually, that's not entirely correct - he didn't change the mentality of his team, he simply restored the mentality one would associate with Juve over the course of many years ... of course that excluded the 98% of people here who thought that after two bad years, a team with history as rich as Juve's could simply be scratched off the map of futbol for good. Good times those were when I, a Milan fan, had to fight with Juve fans in trying to convince them that Juve were going to be good again and that winning comes in cycles.
The reason why mentioned that regarding Miha, is that I see a lot of good signs in him, things that remind me of Conte back in 2011-12. Why the cloud of doubt? Because one can't be sure what they really got in a team/coach until the real tests begin. Many things need to fall in their place, not just several encouraging signs, for Milan to emulate the Juve of 4 years ago.
Many things could fall right for teams like Lazio, Fiorentine and Napoli, maybe even Roma too, yet it's highly unlikely they will challenge Juve for real even then, as per my earlier point.
