I love this article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...eague-says-difficult-score-goals-Serie-A.html

Especially the comments. Some people get it, others not so much. It is something that every fair-weather EPL fan should read.

These ones stand out as intelligent:

"Its down to tactics, its like why english teams suffer in europe they are miles behind tactically, execpt for chelsea because mourinho has them set u up well,in the epl most teams seem to just go out for a run about which is all well and good when the other teams are doing the same, then in europe they face teams that are properly set up to play a system. Also people going on about italian football being really defensive and boring are still living on the stereotype of years ago and obviously haven't watched it in a while."
-This Irish dude understands

"Why has Italy won the world cup 4 times and demolished England at the last euros and world cup? It's true, there is not such thing as a midfield in English football, it's end to end football which exciting but at what cost?"
-This dude from the UK also gets it.

"Two completely different Leagues ! EPL is a good show for the masses, a marketing machine, end to end football, you see lots of stupid mistakes . SerieA is for connoisseurs !"
-He does too...Apparently Serie A is a hipster league

This dudes however do not and probably post at Arsenal-Mania

"Because they park buses"
-Idiot is probably one of those guys who called Manchester City "Boring city" during Mancini's first year. He probably also complains about Mourinho's Chelsea's tactics.

"What you saying plonker? All I know is if you can't play in the premiere league anymore you can opt for the Italian league or the mls."
-Tell that to Ashley Cole. It went well for him didn't it? He can go sign with Aston Villa next year.

"If you like watching paint dry, Italian football is the way to go"

-One guy responds appropriately: "If you like winning nothing, English football is the way to go."

The slower occasional stop-start pace of calcio will never appeal to those weaned on Premier League or similar type football. A lot of English fans enjoy watching the Bundesliga for the same reason. Personally I just think that league looks like a comedy whenever the ball gets around a penalty area, but that's just my view.

In Serie A we are still a bit obsessed with the tactical aspect of the game but that has slightly given way to overly attacking approaches from some teams, and has actually reduced the quality of what is on offer.

Our UCL Campaign:

You're going to get killed at Iduna Park...3-0 Juve. (Basically anything discounting us for the UCL, which happened in every knockout round.) Those stupid memes with the Zebras for example.

Also Morata single handedly eliminated Real Madrid.

Serie A in general:
-Lolito insulting Frosinone & Carpi.
-FIGC and their lesbian comments
-While Parma's situation wasn't funny, the fact the it was sold the second time to Manenti who's address was in some shack in Slovenia & was arrested for money laundering was pretty crazy.

Rivals:
-Roma getting beaten 7-1 at home at the hands of Bayern
-Milan calling mixing up the names of the two key bidders Milan by calling Mr. Bee (from Thailand), Mr. Lee (from China) during a press conference with Bee Taechaubol.

I have a theory that the England game has actually deteriorated in recent years. Previously, it was high tempo, but very direct. There were many long balls, and it was characterized by work-rate. Recently, the BPL has been trying to merge the English & Spanish games which results in complex passing at very high tempo. Unless you're Barcelona, this probably doesn't work & even Barcelona doesn't play at that pace. It results in many errors, weak defensive play, and has caused English teams to be slaughtered internationally in recent years when playing any team with a system.

- - - Updated - - -

Also, I feel that it limits the impact of skilled pacey players like Cuadrado. These players in Serie A have the ability to disrupt the tempo of the game by being explosive, while in the EPL they are running at all times so they can't have the same impact. Even players like Taarabt - pretty ineffective in the EPL because he has to play his skilled game at an unnatural fast tempo, while in Serie A he can be clever.

It has deteriorated, as an Englishman who watches the league it is completely evident. They are filling in gaps by spending money, but there is no midfield in many of these teams. The only top team with a classic midfield over the season was Chelsea. Arsenal have more of a continental midfield, if you rely on just technique you have to be very good, and towards the latter part of the season they have been.

The English philosophy is getting the ball from back to front as soon as possible, just that now they are doing it with more highly skilled foreign players. The game is so much about the counter attack.

I know people who think La Liga is boring, which is played at a faster pace than calcio is, hardened EPL fans will settle for nothing less than football played at a million miles an hour, simple as that.
