Who would have thought Sabatini would be the one that in the end deprives Roma of Scudetto.

That just shows you that in Italy there is only one true transfer guru. :beppe:

Roma director Walter Sabatini ignored Scudetto questions and discussed why Mattia Destro left for Milan.

He spoke to Sky Sport Italia after today’s 1-1 draw at Hellas Verona, which left them nine points adrift of leaders Juventus.

The top two go head-to-head next Monday, so will it be the first match point for Juventus?

“I think so, but let’s steer well clear of this issue for the moment, as we only approached it during a moment of happiness and good humour.

“Now we have to focus on protecting second place and going to Rotterdam to get past Feyenoord in the Europa League. We must be serious and focused, with few words and preferably some action.”

This was Roma’s sixth draw in the last seven games, so why do they now seem incapable of winning?

“Because some things don’t work the way they used to. The team always tries to play attacking football, but we’re not managing it at the moment and moves don’t go the way we want. We have to hope this moment will pass.

“I made a mistake in January by not reflecting carefully on the fitness levels of Seydou Doumbia and Victor Ibarbo. If that turns out to be a deadly error, we’ll see at the end of the season.”

Does Sabatini now regret the decision to send striker Destro to Milan in the transfer window?

“With Destro it wasn’t so much a football decision, because we wanted to give some breathing space to a player who was feeling oppressed by many things it’s difficult to explain.

“Roma is a tough place to play in, it’s very demanding and at times this lad was blamed for things that weren’t his

Batistuta won nothing at Fiorentina and is regarded as one of the best poachers of all time. He himself jokes about it and says he left Fiorentina so he could win something
Complete forward, players like Inzaghi (one dimensional) can be labeled as poachers. :p

Usually there would be a funny connotation to it, that he chose Roma to win something, but he indeed won one there. Kudos to him. Definitely deserved his medal.

But only one Serie A title to his name. Gotta be frustrating for Totti, labeled as one of the finest Italian players of all time, to win so few on a club level.
I would think you of all people would be more appreciative of a serie a icon like Totti :D

I say that because he's one of my favourite players ever:tup:

Ughhh.

I mean he's a great player, sure, no doubt about his ability, but he's so incredibly classless both on and off the pitch. How can someone like that be one of your favourite players, unless perhaps you're a Roma fan?

I expected better from you Fred.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching players like Totti week in week out, their moments of ingenuity on the pitch, but the fact that he's such a dick, whiner, often badmouths Juve in the media and basically blames our club for the lack of proffessional success on a club level, makes it rather satisfying that he hasn't won as nearly as he could have if by any chance he had decided to test his luck at more competitive environment.
