The economic enviroment has a big effect on the league, just take a look at EPL. They would suck today like they did in 90-s if England did not change some economic rules and regulations making it more attractive for tycoons to invest in their country, subsequently in football also.
Of course it has some impact on the league, but English and Spanish economies aren't so great either. Yet they still manage to do better than Italy and don't need to rely on these shadowy corporations who are funding all the clubs in Germany, apparently.

    Their economy is actually horrible. Along with Serbia they have the biggest unemployment rate, huge debt and everything that goes along with it.
