Are people really debating whether a country's economy has an effect on its football? Sure culture plays a role too and circumstance but like any industry in any nation, the economic environment affects you.
Some countries attract a lot of foreign investment while others don't. The economic welfare of consumers affects your pricing and your sales. How good or bad a country's government is can aid or hamper your company's performance. How high or low your taxes are. The minimum wage and the average salaries affect your cost structure. The prices of land and the bureaucracy of it affects your performance.
It'd be stupid to think that the economic environment does all the work for you but it is equally stupid to think that the economic environment does not affect you.
Italian clubs will definitely be affected by the state of their economy the same way an egyptian club gets affected by the Egyptian economy.
The brits and the germans operate in a better environment with a much more helpful government and much higher receptivity to foreign investment (England specially). The milanese clubs have an advantage over us just by virtue of being based in Milan. That does not mean that we can never be better at attracting tourists just because we are in shitty turin. that only says that all things being equal, if they have equally good stadiums and are winning etc.. they are more likely to attract tourists then we are.
