Sassuolo 'model' Serie A club
By Football Italia staff
Sassuolo President Giorgio Squinzi said his club sets the template that other Serie A sides should follow.
The Neroverdi had their first ever top flight campaign last season and bought their own stadium, while now stars Simone Zaza and Domenico Berardi are impressing for Italy.
“I saw Zaza against Holland and he played well. I also heard of Berardi’s winning goal for the Under-21 side,” Squinzi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I think their success is the right recognition for our strategy based on youth and home-grown talent.
“In the opening game, we had a starting XI of Italian players. The Sassuolo model is the right one to follow in order to emerge from the crisis in Italian football.”
Squinzi also commented on reports Juventus already have their hands on the two strikers with specific options.
“We bought Zaza out while Berardi is in a co-ownership deal. We have not promised them to anyone, as we want to focus on them at Sassuolo.”
I like Sasuolo, they are focusing on youth and they have their own stadium though the capacity is not big at least they are moving on the right direction. Hopefully, they will keep up this model and encourage others as well.
