Shevchenko in his prime was a gem of a player. People's opinion about him are clouded by his Chelsea stint which was admittedly disastrous.
Agreed.

Its a bit funny how Ronaldinho is considered a legendary player by many, and everyone forgot his decline at barcelona, and later milan, to a ghost of the player he once was.

Not every player has a prime that lasts past his 20ties

you can be a gem and second to another player

I still find Serie A to be more entertaining than any other league from a pure footballing point-of-view. The Argie league in close second.

Oh sure but on the Trez vs Shevchenko debate, I'm with Zach on this one. Trezeguet is one of the best pure finishers I have ever seen but Shevchenko was the complete striker and an amazing player overall. I'll never forget how he scored past Buffon in this manner.

For me he's the best Serie A striker in the 2000-2006 sequence.

Massive Trezeguet fan (3rd favourite player ever behind Del Piero and Nedved) but Shevchenko was an overall better player for sure. Main reason being how often Trez would be invisible for so much of so many matches. His finishing and poaching skills were a different class though.

Ps. Its been years since i started a debate on this forum, go me :D

Trezeguet was superior to Sheva inside the box

Sheva was superior to Trez everywhere else, he was the complete player. Best striker in the world from 2003-06.

Some gold found in the Gazetta today

Milan out for revenge, Torres: "My shirt to rank alongside Van Basten, Weah and Inzaghi"

Torino, Cairo: "Cerci wanted to leave... you'll see, Amauri will be an idol"

:howler: Inzaghi shouldn't even be in that discussion. Both Weah and Van Basten are far superior to that rat faced cunt.
