Osman and his Messi obsession  Just stop drooling over his balls, please.

That context is absolutely ridiculous. Those players played in tougher times when defenders knew how to defend and referees turned the blind eye to violence.

Even if Mr-I'm-protected-by-the-referees survived what all that was like, he'd face strong fierce competition to even try to be at the top 3 every year. It's funny how a 35 year old Romário is the only one in the list from the 00's besides Messi and Ronaldo. No more talent in the 00's? The well has dried but hey, it's Messi breaking records in the least-talented time period in Football history

Excuses, nothing but excuses, to a player that averages 52.5 goals in 6 seasons straight.

The stats surely exaggerate his impact, but even if you take them down a notch (I personally think ~1/4 would be fair, but that's of course only a guess), Messi is still the best forward in history. Maybe not the most entertaining or creative, but certainly the most efficient. And that would be true for every era, in every country.

But Messi can't do shit without Xavi and Iniesta.. oh wait Xavi isn't even playing and Iniesta looks like his abilities got stolen by the nerdlucks.

Nope. He wouldn't have a third of his stats in any other era which would then put him nowhere near the best forward or the most efficient.

I agree, I can't go as far back as you, because I still have my youth. But 10 years ago players where more physical, Messi would be thinking twice when he comes across a Montero or a Gattuso. He'd get bullied.

Delusional

Talent is talent anywhere in any era, he's undoubtly one of the greatest talent the football has seen but that's his skills, i never questioned how individually good he is with the ball. That's one thing.

Another completely different is to assume he'd be scoring the same or a close amount of goals in diffferent eras where it wasn't just Ronaldo and a bunch of peasants but eras of abundance of talent.

So suddenly the year his career started all the defenders just became pussies til now? :D Btw, this was 10 years ago, a 17 year old Messi vs the best defence in Europe at the time (This Juve's defence >>>>> Montero one). First time I saw him, our world class defensive unit couldnt handle him as a kid, quickly realized they had to put two players on him every time he got the ball.

I don't even like Messi and i hate his team but the constant hipster/contrarian obsession to pick one tournament or aspect of his Messi's game (world cup, his size etc.) to demean the monster of a player he is be a load of bullshit
