Curva Sud: 'Sack Galliani!'

Milan ultras released a statement putting the blame squarely on Adriano Galliani amid reports Pippo Inzaghi will be sacked.

It has been reported that Coach Inzaghi will be fired if he doesn’t beat Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Tuesday evening.

The Curva Sud group released a statement ruing the fact the Coppa “had in the past always been snubbed and now seems like the trophy that can revive yet another disastrous campaign.

“It was created by a transfer strategy made up of vastly overpaid free agents who had little or nothing to give to Milan.

“We read that it’s the Last Chance Saloon for Pippo Inzaghi, who in reality is just yet another Coach who is given a low level squad presented as if it’s the best side in the world.

“The club put everything behind Inzaghi, albeit realising it was his first experience and for that precise reason should be helped, supported and defended from outside attack during difficult moments.”

The statement went on to list facts and figures, pointing out Milan have the third-highest wage bill in Serie A.

However, it reserved its worst criticism for Adriano Galliani.

“The architect of the team’s construction is the general manager, who despite being forced to work within tight economic limitations, acts in the total absence of a project.

“He pays huge wages for players of dubious value or even throws away the little transfer budget he’s given on terrible buys like Matri (paid as much as Juventus got Tevez for), moves like Torres or other fake players presented to us as if they were champions.

“We also do not understand the situation with Mexes, who first was frozen out, then brought back and even promoted to captain on occasion, given the chance to prove he’s probably our best option in that role only after the others showed they are not up to the task.

“The general manager spoke of a youth project to improve the squad, yet immediately sold Cristante and Petagna to bring in young foreigners who were paid much more and didn’t get the best out of our youth academy.

“At this point we ask the President to invest in Milan again, but also do what all good companies do and that is get rid of the person who is really responsible for this situation.

“There are too many failures now and it is too obvious how the fans are moving away from Milan.”

The statement also asked President Silvio Berlusconi to avoid “certain declarations on an incredibly poor squad treated as if it was the real Milan, the one that was on top of the world. Just because your general manager signed expensive contracts doesn’t mean the players are actually worth very much.

“Your hip hip hurrays certainly won’t make this a winning team.”

well, i feel milan fans, we used to be like that for couple of years, askin secco to fuck off and slamming poulsens and amauris with their sissokos and zebinas who earn a lot and gives nothing. But the milan situation is probably even worse. Idk about inter, they seem to operate in a more composed fashion, buying better players and having better coach, yet they have scored and conceded same amounts and have same points tally. Giving these circumstances it is even worse for Inter fans, they are next to make statements

Gonzalo Higuain’s opener was offside and the penalty was extremely dubious, but Benitez rejected all attempts to go back over his famous criticism of incidents going in favour of Juventus: 'It can happen.’
“I said many times that I won’t talk about referees. If we analyse every incident, I think it’s not so easy for Genoa to complain,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 result.
“We’ve seen that we can win by scoring two goals with 10 chances. I will say nothing on referees. I like to discuss football.
“I think it was clear that Napoli were superior throughout the game. I saw 10 incidents worth analysing, but I am the Coach in Serie A who discusses referees the least. I only spoke about the officials once this season.

Next game Naploli must face the most grave injustice

I'd love to have a journalist ask : "so, is this the second time this season you want to discuss officials since it went against you ?"

Zach, I'm going to tease you a little here.. :p

But Benitez saying "I am the coach in Serie A who discusses the referees the least" reminds me a bit of you saying "I was the first to praise Coman" and "I was the first to praise Marotta" and other such things. :D

These days referees face a trial by media, it is a proven working tactic to get favourable results for your team. Who needs club officials calling designators when you can have referees ridiculed by millions on a weekly basis?
