Lazio was spending far over what they could carry, but that chairmen kept funding it. then he got into a scandal, and lazio had to rely on the "normal" income, wich wasent quite sufficient.

He sold the team, and the team had to sell everything.

Napoli is now also doing a simular thing. they are building a team that requires a steady growth, and yearly championsleague, to be sustainable. IF milan and fiorentina manage to take this years cl spots, and suddenly, inter and milan for example do it next year, then napoli is in a HUGE amount of trouble.

If that would happen to the current juve, it would just mean "allright guyse, no summer transfers before sales"

Now, Napoli have very little debt as things stand. De Laurentiis has also been a vocal in his support of the FFP regulations.

I see these moves by Napoli as being a risk in as much as if they fail they will set the club back a couple of years in their development.

I don't think they will be doing anything that really puts them in a dangerous situation as far as the long-term financial wellbeing of the club is concerned.

I have to disagree red.

Napoli, like Lazio, have a one time lump of cash. Where as Lazio had the stock market, Napoli has the cavani fee.

Napoli has a much smaller fanbase, old stadium, much less turnover, compared to us.

They are currently buying players and giving them rather large wages. But can they sustain it ?
No, they arent making debts like Lazio did. But these wages are big, and if they miss 1 or 2 CL's in a row, they are facing a liquidity problem, wich will force sales.

Now, how do they come back from that ? They now have a one time chance, with cavani money, but they wont get that from the players they are now buying.

IF napoli fails, they are degradated to Fiorentina level. and could stay there for a pretty long time

Tbh if Napoli aspire to be a big club they have to spend ,they actually have no choice.I certainly dont think they're going into the Lazio level of insanity but i think there's room now to market their brand that is Napoli with the 'big' signings ,ADL is a film producer afterall.Also you could say they're just trying to take advantage of the bad financial situation of the Milan clubs here and establish themselves as a top 3 team.If rafa clicks,they could certainly imo.

I'm sure they would've had backup plans as well if ever the project fails but they've generally been a well run club up until now ,i'm sure they would've looked into FFP and other considerations as well.

I agree with you regarding the sum.But who knows if they have a crazy marketing plan or something ? Napoli has a very good fanbase in Italy.For international reach they have to sign 'stars'.Higuain is a start.

Again,Juve dont need to sign stars,they are already big ,Napoli arent and thats the difference.

Serie A does need this because it improves TV ratings and prestige of the league.I think we shouldnt care less about other teams' finances as long we're good imo which we are.

If at all Napoli go bankrupt ,Milan or an Inter will suddenly emerge and there is also Roma.There's actually nothing to worry about.We should be happy and at the same time wary also that competition is increasing in the league.

I'm genuinely impressed with the signings clubs are making across the board in Serie A this season. For those doubting Milan you ought to think again. They may not look spectacular on paper but they didn't in the 11/12 season either. They have one of the better attacks in the league and if Balotelli stays fit he can single handedly hoist them into top 3 contention ala Ibrahimobitch and take them into CL quarters if they're lucky. Moreover, Napoli's defense is not at a top 3 standard. That is going to be a big problem for them all season IMO. Their season is the most difficult to predict because you just don't know how Benitez will fare while we're yet to see what Higuain is capable of as the sole star in a new team.

Don't you mean 12/13? In 11/12 they had Ibra, T.Silva, Gattuso, Van Bommel, Nesta, Cassano,Seedorf,Pato and El Shaa.

Agreeing terms with a player is a lot easier than agreeing transfer fee with Porto, i can't see them selling for less than 35m.

I don't understand how people are repeatedly saying that the Milan teams are bad. Milan had a fantastic run from January onwards last season and there is no reason they can't do the same again this time around from the beginning of the season. Inter has a young team and Mazzari did great work with Napoli and there is no reason either that he can't do the same with Inter.

As for the others, Napoli have lost Cavani but brought very good players instead. And all the talk about Benitez is just bullshit, the man has won titles. He won the CL with Liverpool FFS. The base that Mazzari has left and their attacking power can only become better with Benitez's defensive balance, they will do very good this season.

Fiorentina played very good football last season and they have strengthened their squad very much. Their coach seems very good and has an idea and a plan on what to do with the team.

Laugh on the other Serie A teams all you want but the fact remains is that we bought two forwards and still have no idea how they will turn out to be.
