And hamsic, while talented, doesnt has the qualities that the required trequartista needs.
I was reading your post Zach, and I just wanted to say "Hamsik! he can easily do that". Then I saw what you said, and I have to disagree :D

Actually, I'd agree the year before, but after the season he had last year, I'm convinced that Hamsik will be THAT trequartista guy. With Lavezzi gone, Marek got more freedom and he'll have even more freedom this year, imo. I expect him to further improve his last year's stats, which were amazing. Especially in playmaking, where he was Europe's second assistman (14 assists in serie A, iirc). He simply has that final pass. Higuain will profit a lot from Hamsik's presence.

He'll struggle in Italy. I watched him at RM and he wasted far too many chances. Most of my RM friends can't believe Napoli payed that much. They just wanted him out.
Ye he is a bit wasteful. He's good not great. We offered what his real value was which is around 25-30 million. He should do well for Napoli they payed 10 million to much which is what happens in this inflated market so it could have been worse.

So Zach did you ever watch Miss Chokes on Dicks in Champions League?

:yao:
remind me how bad the rest of the team was ?

I stated it before, Higuain is amazing, but he needs a team behind him

Yeah. The market has been seriously overpriced this year too
Marotta shows how god he is once again.
No typo

Alen i'm not disputing he's quality as a player, but its the team he is in.

Hamsic is very good behind a strong lone striker that leads the line. he can play behind that striker, not carry the team, but provide assists when given the ball

However, Higuain is entirely diffrent. Higuain isnt gonna be the main target, using players around him as passing options. Higuain needs players around him that can keep the ball, that can be the target instead of him. He'll be moving into channels, waiting for a trough ball and such.

And in that regard, hamsic isnt the best

Seems like Napoli are signing 2 strikers :shifty:

Rafa said he wants two strikers and Di marzio says they're currently negotiating for jackson martinez

I think it's a good deal for them, I must be the only one here :shifty:. They get a fine replacement for Cavani and have 23M left from his sale. His wages are on the same level as Cavani's and more importantly they needed a 'top player' if they want to be CL for next season(s). With Higuaín they have the potential to be a structural top 3 side imo. Gotta spend money to make money.

I don't think Napoli are aiming to be challengers for the scudetto, they aim to be a structural top club in Serie A and I think with a new RB their squad is good enough for that. They were in B with us not too long ago, their management must be fine hence the recent results and CL qualification.
Finally someone gets it :touched:

Rafa said he wanted to play with two strikers, one who creates space and chances and one finisher.

I think Callejon suits the profile of the SS Rafa was talking about (a la Kuyt) and Higuaín is the obvious the finisher.

Seriously doubt they'll be in for another striker :shifty:

remeber when we were all convinced higgy is worth 25m?

i bet he would have been sold at that price had no other clubs come forward besides us and arsenal.

napoli got robbed blind
I still think 25m is a fair valuation.

It's a bit like when Liverpool sold Torres and bought Carroll.

Everyone thought Liverpool significantly overpaid for Carroll (and they had), but the difference between what they got for Torres and spent on Carroll was about right considering the relative abilities of the players.

I'm not sure if Napoli and Milan have enough for a 2 front battle. Napoli in 2011/12 just couldn't play on two fronts and today they aren't that much better than back in 2012, when they had Inler and the Hamsik-Lavezzi-Cavani trident.
That's in regards to the scudetto battle. But playing in CL and serie A might also endanger their top 3 chances, so one of the other teams might take advantage of that and sneak into the CL places.

Quality wise, though, Napoli should win the 2nd place with ease, while Milan are 3rd best.
I guess how much they suffer between the competitions will also depend on how seriously the Italian sides take the EL.

Only Roma and Inter of the theoretically decent sides don't have European football, so Napoli won't be at too much of a disavantage in that regard.

They do lack depth as things stand, though - even in comparison to someone like Fiorentina.
