While that was certainly a factor. I also think his approach didn't work with the kind of players he played. Cabaye, Nasri, Ben Arfa and the likes aren't likely to enjoy playing in a setup that requires them to be tactically aware, hard working and limits their creative freedom. The personnel and the tactics were not exactly the best fit imo.

He has always been an ego, ever since his L'OM days. Not sure why he thinks he's such a world beater, when he probably only had 2-3 good seasons in his career.

I remember him playing Malouda as a CM which was a failure, Ribery's lack of defending which he never adressed, his double rightback plan failed against Spain and Benzema's role during the EURO's was odd too. He failed with France imo.

as true as that may be, i don't think blanc is a bad choice but his success or failure at roma will depends on Totti and his influence on and off the pitch just as it always has been with roma

Mancini is about the only name that springs to mind but PSG will be looking to bring a manager who will take them another step in europe which mancini doesn't offer. My issue was not with their general set-up.

What bugged me was the lack of penetration in the final third.

Benzema would drop deep among the attacking midfielders and they would end with about five players just loitering around the edge of the box and no-one moving meaningfully off the ball or really occupying a goal-scoring postion.

They just dicked around until someone had a shot from long range or they messed up their overly intricate play.
