Report: Napoli agree Callejon deal
By Football Italia staff

Napoli have reportedly agreed a €10m fee with Real Madrid for Jose Maria Callejon.

According to AS, the two clubs reached a deal over the weekend and personal terms have already been agreed.

The Partenopei are due to pay €10m for the wide attacker, who cost Real Madrid €5.5m from Espanyol in 2011.

Callejon was personally requested by new Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez.

The 26-year-old scored three goals in 30 Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season.

Another typical Rafa signing just like Mertens.

Callejon isnt a bad player but you need much better if you want to reach CL places again.

Callejon and Mertens are good players. Not world beaters obviously, but pacey and skilled enough to be very good in Serie A.

Yeah but it would take a miracle if you want Mertens and Callejon to explode and be amazing, both are mediocre 10M players at best. I rate Pepe higher than those two
:howler:

You went overboard there.I agree about Callejon though, seems above average at best. But i havent seen much of Mertens.

I've seen Mertens play for two seasons, he's a tricky player/technical but this guy failed to show up during all matches that mattered in the Eredivisie, most of his stats are from high scoring games against relegation candidates. Most, if not all, PSV fans were content with Napoli's offer afaik

Rafa signed Babel for 17M FFS during his time at Pool. You cant trust that guy with signings

Mertens move is good for everyone. He's a agile tricky winger, who causes a lot of troubles to many teams. But as you people said, he usually under-performs when playing against the big teams. I wonder if it's a mental problem or he's just not good enough. PSV is generally a really smart club, they are kind of broke for a while now, but they managed to sell Lens and Mertens for a good amount of profit and the best thing is, that they already have replecements, who look more promising than the player they have sold. Depay - Locadia - Narsingh will be the best attacking line-up in Eredivisie in a couple of years and no one will even miss Mertens.

Benitez uses 4-2-3-1, right? Callejon, Mertens, Insigne and Pandev really aren't bad for those wide attack positions.
None of those players scare me in the slightest. To think they once had Cavani, Lavezzi and Hamsik and now they have that is quite funny.

That's a pretty good squad TBH. They have balanced midfield and strong attack. Armero and Maggio are good enough, but I'm not a fan of their central backs.

If they sign Gomez they are gonna be strong as hell.

Armero is the weakest link there, I can see that team finding enough goals against most sides even if they don't sign someone like Gómez, but they could lose a lot of goals with Armero's help.

that defence is in for a good raping
Attacking line has the potential to outscore it, though.

Both Inler and Behrami are gonna be capable of filling the hole at the left side. I don't think he's that bad really.
