Also, teams have more at stake. Now, there are a bunch of teams that go through the motions for half the season once they realise that they are out of the European race or are assured of avoiding relegation. There will be 4 less teams with a bunch of meaningless games in which they have no motivation to play and their fans have no real reason to watch.

I hope they implement this.
+1, really hope it goes back to 18 teams (or even 16 TBH). Way too many poo teams in the league, who had nothing besides shitty attendances, crap players and zero ambition.

Brace yourselves, we'll witness Sassuolo with their 4k average attendance next season.

The only positive about their promotion is the fact that they have Berardi and Boakye.
Is Sassuolo a small town in Modena province? So similar situation to Chievo yeah?

Yep, get ready for some horrible attendances from them next season. At least our fans can invade another town and make it feel like another home match for us :D

Serie A started to decline in quality when it was bumped up to 20 teams in 2004, 18 teams and 4 getting relegated would be just right in my view.

Too many mediocre to poor sides in the league, Inter being the worst :D

They should definitely look at major changes because it can't get much worse. Fixing the pitches would be a good start. It's hard to play lightning European football when half the surfaces are potato fields not conducive to good play.

merda director Marco Fassone

“Our finances don’t allow us to spend crazy money right now,” Fassone is quoted as saying. “But we have concluded five interesting signings for next season – Laxalt, Campagnaro, Andreolli, Botta and Icardi.”

“Marco Fassone would like to clarify that he gave no such interview,” Inter made it clear on their website this afternoon.
